    Hi guys,

first of all, I'm not entirely sure if this should be in the tech support forum or not. If so, someone will move it there I'm sure. ;)
So, my problem is this: I have set the look ahead option to 100% but when turning into a corner the view doesn't change more than about an inch maybe. So it's basically useless as it is right now.
My FOV is set to 25° or 35°. The only thing I can think of to be the reason for this problem is that I'm not turning the wheel far enough.
Because I believe it is somehow related to the steering input. At least that would make sense to me.

It really isn't much fun driving around tight corners without knowing where you're actually going, so if anyone can give me some advice on how to setup my .plr file or whatever it is I need to do, please help.

    Thanks.

I've never used Look Ahead because I have TrackIR but I did some testing and changed the plr to this

Lookahead Angle="1.70000" // Angle to lookahead (yaw) w/ steering in radians (= degrees / 57)

With a Megane at Croft, if I steer smoothly and don't opposite lock, this setting is very close to what I see with my head tracking :)

Just tried it and it works fine. Needs some getting used to though. :)
What exactly does the degrees / 57 do?

I use a setting of 0.90 myself... worth noting that when you'll go to controls settings, it will set it back to it's highest default of 0.20 in the plr. You must edit it out again!

I find 0.57 to 0.90 the best, but your mileage may vary :)

Also, play with the leanahead angle... it will tilt the head while turning... adds to the realism, since when you turn your head, it tilts a bit.

I use this value: Leanahead Angle="0.06140"

it's to convert degrees to radians, because the setting is set in radians.

glance angle is also good to quickly see what's happening either side of you, upped mine in the plr as the default wasn't enough

Indeed, did the same as well :)

I also upped the speed at which it goes a bit, so it's quicker!

I love how rF2 is so much customizable!

Thank you guys for these precious settings :)
I was resigned to not find a good solution...
It was so simple in GTR2 for instance..

@ pleclair, could you tell me how to up your glance speed ?
    Thank you.

Yes it is, look for Glance Rate, it's above the lookahead angle and stuff.

I have mine set to 9 for reference. I think the default is something like 7.

Did you give a try to the realhead plugin from Gladiator? Very good one!

I have, but I think it soften the view way too much. Tried to play with various settings, didn't seemed to bring it back to a more realistic level.

There are stuff about it that is nice, but it would need some more options, for me anyway.

But the main reason why I restraint from using it, it doesn't work with replays. So when looking at your replay from cockpit view, the view is stiff like iron. And I like to watch my replays, and record my best time, for later reference, and for others to learn from (those who can learn from me at least)...

The only thing that is nicer with this, is the way the head moves, which isn't linear like ISI's. But that's about it... I think ISI is more customizable.

Plus if you use the plugin to lessen the shakes, you can also do so with options in the plr. :)

But others might like it, so was still worthy of mentioning. :)

Thank you for your quick answer.
With all those settings well tweaked, immersion is nice better :)
Definitely, I must study deeper this plr file.
