Maybe the practise and race server have different settings. you practise under certain conditions and then race with other) It could be server-load, in practise alone the server can handle your connection, in a full server it can be different. (not fps but smoothness) It could be just nerves. its easier to set good times when not under pressure but come race day and real life challengers, sometimes people cannot perform as they should. tactics? setup? often people use different tactics (full fuel, no stops or low fuel, multiple stops) and even I qualifying one can set up a car to be faster then normal. i.e. quali setup vs race setup. And of course sometimes (in league racing) some drivers hide their true potential until race day
