The guy who produced the car body mesh and some of the textures for the GPLEA cars was Gustavo Olivera. He started work with Simbin towards the end of GTR development and was Art Lead for GT Legends. In common with most Simbin staff he left with Ian Bell to work for Blimey! studios which after bankruptcy became Slightly Mad Studios. To the best of my knowledge he is still working there - he certainly worked on pCARs and is listed as a member of the official pCARs forum. I'm afraid I don't have any specific contact details.

Ah, Gustavo. Very talented guy. I wish I had his contact, sorry Post. I don't think it would make any difference about permission, and from what I remember, he was a nice guy.
Hopefully this will bring interest to able people to create modern models and make this better. But when even the game developers have shown no interest, counting on such is a very distant hope.
Yeah really hoping we could get some own mesh. My 3dmax skills are so bad, that I cannot even make circle in it
You have to post this over at SRMZ to give them a glimpse of what is possible. Hopefully the original modders and SlimJim can be found. Seriously, this plus the release of Sergio's classic tracks would get me interested in using my steering wheel again and firing up a racing game.
