Occasional mini-freeze depending on number of cars on track

    Hi all,

    Now that I have some seasons with a full AI grid to run (previously I didn't have more than max. 14 cars loaded at same time) I'm noticing that depending on track, with a certain amount of AI the game tends to "freeze up" for a very short time sometimes during a lap, then unfreezes. It's not a drop in framerate, really more like momentary "hang". A bit the same as when loading AI from garage screen. Removing a few AI then eliminates the problem.

    It can most easily be seen on TV Cameras, but also in cockpit. Other than these freezes, I get the full FPS my limiter is set at (45)

    My theory is that the game has a "bubble" of visible or nearby content it loads into Vid RAM, and when too many cars are around it starts swapping textures in and out? That might explain why on lower detail tracks (Portugal vs. Silverstone) I can run notable more AI.

    try reducing 'visible cars' ?

    Ah, I forgot about that setting. Great idea, I might be able to run a full grid and yet no stutters...
