SOLVED object crashing DEV and VIEWER

    I'm at a loss atm. Can anyone help!

    I have a new guardrail I have made in 3d max 2010.

    When adding the object into the scn DEV crashed about 1.5 - 2 cm into the loading screen bar. Tried re loading crash, tried again and it loaded. This is a pattern that happens. Once it loads next 2 or 3 attempts crash then it loads and repeats the crashing then loading pattern. Every time it loads thou when I close DEV I get rfactor has stopped working error.

    I tried with the viewer and with out fail every 2nd try loads and works. The other 50% it crashes the viewer.

    I have tried creating a plane and attaching the object to it deleting the plane and re-naming etc.

    Removed dead verts and reset transform, nothing I try seems to be working.

    Would you offer a download which includes the MAX scene and the textures that you use for the object?
    You can do it by sending a PM if you don't want to post it here in the forum.

    the traffic light pole is set to collide? Try to move it out of guardrail

    no pole is not collide but g rail is ill try moving.

    EDIT: tried but didn't help. Thanks for the idea

    May seem like a stupid question: have you tried removing the offending object from the SCN and load the track a dozen times? Does that work flawless?

    Yes I have luc and works fine

    That's an interesting issue :) .
    Try selecting a small portion of the object, invert the selection and detach those faces. Then export just the small piece ...

    Progress is being made then. Time to bring portions of the detached object back then?
    It's a bit of trial/error, but at some point it will crash again, and then you can investigate every vertex of that part of the mesh ... fun.

    Looks like it might be something wrong in my max again. I sent Redapg the guardrail max scene. He exported from his machine and works at my end. No crash

    Glad that i could help.
    Maybe it's your exporter that causes the problem.
    Which Version do you use?
    I have the 2.52q from Build 930 "installed".

    Maybe you give it a try, i attach it here. ;)
