Over the past week or so, I've been noticing these weird glitches in the lighting/graphics when loading certain tracks and it makes them completely undrivable. It doesn't happen at all tracks though. So far I've only seen this happening when I try to load the following: Nürburgring, Loch Drummond, Portland, Lime Rock, and the workshop rendition of Portimao by odb. So far the only thing I've done is uninstall/reinstall the affected tracks, but it didn't resolve the issue. Anyone know how to fix this?
Have you tried clearing shaders? (link is for reference - no need to actually set up a batch file, just clear the folders)
System: Dell Inspiron 5675 OS: Windows 10 - 64 bit Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Eight-Core Processor 3.60 GHz Installed RAM: 16 GB GPU: AMD Radeon (TM) RX 580 DirectX Version: DirectX 12
Yep, the problem started sometime last week. I just tried going back to the previous build and the tracks load just fine. No issues whatsoever.
Ok, so to be clear, the second you load the track it is like this? Can you post your Player.json file and a screenshot of the config app or graphics settings page (the one with screen resolution etc). If you try changing the road reflection setting does it make a difference at all? Can you ever get these tracks to load at all normally in the new update? Thanks.
Yes, it happens right as I load in. I tried changing the road reflection and it didn't make any difference. I haven't been able to get these tracks to load normally in this new update. It's always like this. I should note that in previous builds, stuff like this did come up every now and again, but I was able to fix it by exiting to the menu and then going back in. Not so in the new update. Here's the screenshot as requested. I can't upload the .json file here, though. Should I just copy-paste the contents of it here as its own post or is there a way to upload it? (sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, I've never had to do something like this before)
Well I decided to try loading up a few other tracks yesterday to see if they were affected and I can now add Silverstone, Indianapolis, and Road America 2019 (workshop) to the list of affected tracks. Silverstone loaded in near total darkness like the screenshots in my original post, however Road America and Indianapolis had some slight variation in the way they were glitched.
I looked at your PLR file and there is nothing obvious there. For some reason your system is failing to produce output from the shaders. I haven't seen anyone else report this, so the working assumption is there is something specific to your system causing problems. Firstly can you load Loch Drummond in ModDev and check that you see the same behaviour in ModDev that you have in Retail. If you do not have it in ModDev, can you try to remove your player folder completely and create a new player file. If none of the above worked, the next step is to remove certain folders in your RF2 folder (don't permanently delete them incase it causes some unintended consequence), and then verify your steam install, this will remove any files that are there for one reason or another.. These would be: rFactor 2\Core\Shared rFactor 2\Bin rFactor 2\Bin32 rFactor 2\Bin64 rFactor 2 (All loose files in here) If this still doesn't work, I'm kind of out of ideas other than try updating graphics drivers perhaps. And if nothing works at all, for now you can use previous-release branch.
I have the even older RX-480 8gb video card and do not have those issues. So your hardware should be able to properly display the shaders. As a precaution, if you try the folder moving that Alex suggests, I would also rename the folder so that rF2 doesn't 'find' the old folder. Something simple like bin64 to binXXX64 should keep the folder easy for you to find and keep rF2 from looking for it.
