Latest Roadmap Update - August 2018

In other news;
  • The historical Nürburgring Südschleife has also been licensed but Marrs has asked the community whether to go down this route & if so to provide information about the track/layout members may have collected over the years.
i have been working with Südschleife :) pretty cool track for sure :)

1) McLarens!

Fantastic!

2) Nürburgring & Nords

Ought to bring in a few people who "ain't gonna try rF2 because..." While I'm one that thinks its overrated, it's good that rF2 will no longer be the odd sim out.

3) The historical Nürburgring Südschleife has also been licensed but Marrs has asked the community whether to go down this route & if so to provide information about the track/layout members may have collected over the years.

Having the Sudschleife would be a differentiating feature compared to the other sims. However, a historical Sudschleife without the historical Nordschleife would be less than awesome. Will the existing sections be scanned? Even an aerial lidar survey would be better than nothing, I think.

2) Down-shift protection is a coming feature

Good. Personally, I'd rather see hybrid capabilities, but realize S397 has to start somewhere on the laundry list of features.

3) Better clouds are in the works (somehow linked to the announcement tomorrow)

Good. I might even go so far as to say I'm excited about it, much to my own chagrin!

4) UI predicted for Christmas 2018 - Q1 2019

Patience, sigh. I suspect features we haven't even dreamed of might be included, so I really hope it's not underwhelming.

5) All future rF2 content will be fully licensed content

Mixed feelings. I think it's the right thing to do because fantasy cars/tracks shouldn't exist in a sim, but I also slightly worry that there will no longer be free content. We all know that most fantasy cars/tracks are nice ways around difficult licenses, so I'll miss the occasional "Lemborgoony" and "Paulina Richards".

6) Tatuus cars development: Graphics/Models around 50% & Physics around 75% progress

OK.

7) In cockpit dash features have been promised to be implemented (to an extent)

I trust these are "things" on real cars that competitors might already have?
****

So items with no news:
1) The future of AI
2) Hybrid powerplants
3) Drivetrain implementation
4) TPA content updates
5) Updating/creating content older than 1973 (well, except for Sudschliefe)

Thank for considering this, Studio 397. I hope there will be 40 unique pit spots with at least 2 cars being able to share a pit spot.

Thanks for allow Sebring to have 32 pit spots and 2 cars per pit.

Today's announcement will make me happy for some years. Laser scanned Nordschleife is coming to rF2. I'm almost speechless. Simply awesome! This was the biggest missing part to being able to simulate a 24h Nordschleife race in highest quality.
same feeling, it's my favorite track with brandhatch, i have no reason to buy ACC (i have refunded as i used the crappy FFB), or other sims, i have just to save money for a very good GPU/CPU, triple monitor gsync, DD, 5 DOF rig

Good thing I'm upgrading my video card on Monday, otherwise no way my PC would be able to handle the Nords.
I'm honestly more excited about Nurburgring than Nordschleife, the mods out there of the GP circuit are not very good.

Also great news we already have an estimated date for the UI.

from zero to hero, i set AI at 100%, some track at 120%.
M. Schumacher did it many times

I don't think anyone ever won from last*. I'm well aware who Schumacher is, he never did it either.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...#Wins_from_farthest_back_on_the_starting_grid

I realise there are people out there who like 'challenges', like getting to first from last in x number of laps, or here's this scenario and let's see how well you can do - been similar in various games forever, and even in some driving games. But it's not really a sim thing. Some of my best single-player sim memories are full length hard fought races to a points position (top 6 back in the day) in a car that should be barely able to get near the top 10 (based on AI strength suited to my speed - I'm no alien).

You're racking up posts very quickly, often answering your own question 10 mins after posting, you apparently bought the 0.01 of ACC and then refunded it, so you're probably the sort of person who wants to jump in and get stuff done, so I understand why that approach appeals to you. But I would say the majority of sim racers actually do qualifying.

*Referring to F1 obviously. I only played F1 sims so I'm biased that way.

Would be nice to have something unique with Südschleife.

My idea: Reproduce the original track with its curves and elevations. BUT around it create a modern environment. So this will be a version how the complete track could look like today.
