Yes, let's hope we don't have another architecture lesson coming. Extreme accuracy in terms of engineering and architecture of the buildings is not necessary, but extreme inaccuracy or implausibility ruins an otherwise authentic feeling atmosphere....

Sorry but I've to say;

facepalm.

You would only face palm if you, yourself, did not understand perspective. The angle chosen in the pic specifically distorts the perspective. You can't figure that out? Or are you only seeing the real modelled object in your mind and bypassing the perspective?

Post the pic somewhere objective and do a poll asking if the upper part of the building is offset on the pedestal. See what the result is. Or even better, don't ask a specific question and see how many spontaneous responses you get like the ones above from concerned onlookers.

The doors/windows/ladder make it pretty obvious its centered to me.

Whats most important though, is that its an amazing model! :)

Oh. My. God.
You don't know when to stop, don't you ?

Vampire/ghost ducks and buildings potentially collapsing onto the track. Very ominous indeed.

Might I suggest the good old "duck and cover"?

Sorry, I'll go home now...

You can get centimeter match with that model. But, again, you can't resist your need to ride and beat the horse. So please, just take that "facepalm" as a friendly joke. Nobody got hurt. Move on.

Peace.

It looks like even the wooden boards are 3D in that Palm Beach building. Really very detailed one, amazing job.

Regarding to perspective thing, depending on the FOV the track stuff turns themselves very distorted. In gJED, by the way, I don't know how to change this value so the buildings appear to be excessively deformed in screenshots.

That value is the FOV you have in the track SCN.

Im not sure you can change FOV on the fly with gJED, but you can for sure using the Viewer.exe, pressing CTRL + "?" (FOV -) and CTRL + "^" (FOV +)

These are character I've in the ITA layout, but they should be last two keys before the Backspace. (ok I think they are - and + for US/ENG layout)

PS: CTRL is the left one.

PS2: Bigger that FOV number (Vertical Field of View), more distortion you get.

Small number, small angle = Tele/Zoom/No Distortion
Big number, wide angle = WideAngle/Fisheye/Barrel Distortion

Thanks Tuttle, much better screenshots with lower FOV. In Portuguese the layout is the same. BTW, keys only working in ModDev, in gJED I need to edit SCN directly by typing. I think gJED has much room to improve and help us (simulate weather, on the fly FOV, simulate groove and marbles etc), it's a handy tool and hopefully can be used in a more effective with some addons.

Stop taking everything so seriously! Lighten up! My comment was made in jest... you see the smiley faces?

I can't wait to test the new palm beach. Is there the possibility to get the quarter mile, too?

I really like the amount of texture detail that these recent tracks are shipping with. Great stuff.

Regarding normal maps and AO, do you guys use high poly sculpted assets and then bake it down to the low res one or do you use stuff like xNormal/NDO to generate a normal map from reference photographs?
