Gents, I would like to be able to move the HUD and instruments so that I can make my 'cockpit' better to use. As you can see from the pic attached, I have a home made rig, which means that effectively the relationship between the monitor and the wheel is fixed. With the instruments in their default location, they are hidden behind my wheel. I could raise the monitor, but then I have to bring the car down and it starts to look poor. If there was a way to move the virtual instruments, it would make me happy! Les
I would also like this feature even though I don't have the cockpit, it's nice to customise things to your liking.
Just get a cheep 42" tv You are cheating yourself using such a small monitor for simulators ! I would like them to totally redesign the UI and custom placing would certainly be nice ( I think its likely some UI mods will come out in the future allowing you to place things different.
Even if ISI decides to consider and implement your suggestion, it might be a while before we see anything. In the mean time Fazerbox may have a workable solution for you. The informational displays in this plugin can be moved around the screen to your heart's content: http://forum.virtualracinggroup.net/fazerbox-f55/trackmap-0-9beta-for-rfactor2-t4564.html. In its beta form, it's a touch fiddly to get the track maps to display but I am sure the author is working on it. His version for rF1 (Global Info Display & Trackmap), recently updated, may help you evaluate how well it works if you're unwilling to drop a beta plugin into your beta rF2. See: http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/5702-GID-V1-1-2-Global-Info-Display-e-Trackmap).
I find that the best solution is to lower your monitor behind your wheel, Get a bigger rim for the wheel and adjust your FOV and cockpit position. I have a big CRT here at home but over there that flat 25" TV worked out beautifully.
Maybe I haven't had enough sleep recently but I could swear that Samsung monitor is upside down, lol.
Minecraft with a wheel is the real deal I'm so jealous of these awesome setups! I have a kitchen table and a bucket computer chair.
View attachment 2684 This is the current monitor, which is a 42 inch high def screen, and you can see it is the same. You can see the surround speaker setup I'm trying, although frankly, it doesn't work
