Not true, you need a high FPS camera (playstation2 one works good) open it and remove the ir filter. It works better when poor light or during night time since camera can track position leds better. You should give a look here: http://www.free-track.net
Yes, TrackIR is very adjustable. How much to rotate, where the rotation starts and stops, speed of rotation in relation to your movements, plus more. It's been a while since I used it and that was only in flight sims.
I'm using the ps eye cam (bought the whole package from Tomasz for about 40 quid if I remember correctly). He'll also remove the IR filter for you, the setup works perfectly. IMNSHO TrackIR is the 2nd biggest ripoff in computer gaming...and it's lower, el-cheapo plasticky "quality" at the same time at a frivolous price tag. Drop their "proclip" a couple of times and you'll need to buy a new one. The DelanClip OTOH is sturdy metal and I cannot count the times I've dropped it on the floor without any issues whatsoever Also the setup works nicely in Linux, no idea if the same can be said for TIR. https://delanengineering.com/ All the best, Uwe Full disclosure: Not related to Tomasz, just a very happy customer.
Now you got me interested. Is there any video showing any of these tracking devices in action at racing game? I would like to see user and screen
I think a video won't do the experience justice. You can fiddle with the curves so that looking at the right edge of the screen swivels your virtual head 180 degrees to the rear, for instance. TBH I don't use head tracking much in racing sims as I find I'm faster and more consistent without it, but of course YMMV and some folks swear by it. rfactor2 will pick up the running facetrackoIR process without any additional setup and you'll be good to go once you've got the tracking working to your taste. As I'm also an avid flightsimmer (Falcon BMS on win7 and X-Plane 11 on Linux) I'm using head tracking in those sims and I find it indispensable. All the best, Uwe PS: If you know which end of the soldering iron gets hot you can build a clip your self for about 10€ in parts in a couple of hours. The used ps eye cam comes in about 10€, add to that a FaceTrackNoIR "license" (around 2€) and you're all set.
I use track hat, which is much better build quality and much cheaper than track ir. Works really well as you choose how much your head turns rather than having the game decide how far it turns. In my review video I use it in rf2 and AC.
ps eye cam new models have problems with windows 10 from what i read cause isnt suppose to work with computers but if anyone did managed to work with it it gives 120 fps so is the best cheap solution for tracking also i tried to make my mobile phone work with facenoir but i failed in the process need to find a goof fast cheap camera that is compatible with this kind of software that they use for tracking
For me VR still has too many disadvantages comparing to monitors so this little thing is gonna add to immersion very much.
i m a bit confused about trackhat it seems they have 2 ideas of same product 1. track with the hat 2.track using your headphones no idea which one is best maybe headphones but i need to buy headphones then hahaahaa
I use the headphone clip because then if I wreck the headphones (which I have) I can stick it on a new one. But I don't use speakers so that's just better for me.
i searched at trackhat website the compability search and says Rfactor 2 is not compatible EDIT:is not listed at their site and there is nowhere a phrase that says "Not compatible" My Bad
Trackhat compatible Games look at that at their main paige RF2 i m sure it is supported as game but they dont officially list it as compatible
