Increase bhp of car

    Hi guys im sure this question comes up alot and im sorry if im just repeating what others have asked..

    Anyway..
    Im wanting to add 3 to 5 extra bhp to the btcc bmw 125i.

    Now im not great at modding stuff like this but i can so simple instructions is what im after please i know i have to edit the HDV file and the engine.ini file but just a little lost as to what needs to change as there is alot in them i litraly just want to add a max of 5bhp to the car nothing more. Any help would be great many thanks.

    You don't need to alter the .HDV file, just the .ini of the engine.
    Take these lines: RPMBase=(1500,-30.8,74.7,0.84,1.00) and alter the torque (the 74.7 in this case)

    Now I have an excel sheet you can use; you fill in all the torque lines and it calculates all powers for you and sets it out in a diagram.
    Sadly; dropbox doesn't "do" this anymore and I can't seem to upload it here either. So if you have any suggestions on how to get the file across, I would love to hear it.

    I think it could also be even easier. There is a line in the hdv called torque multi or sth like that. If i am not wrong this could also be used to alter the torque

    So let me see if im right i alter every 3rd number on the line so id adjust the 74.7 to say 75.8 then next line down for example RPMBase=(1500,-20.8,80.7,0.84,1.00) id also adjust the 80.7.?? Am i right in thinking that..?? Also is it increase number or decrease number for more bhp.????

    Yes, you are right. It is an upgoing number, but with more rpm, there comes more bhp too.
    There is a formula to calculate the power from torque and rpm:
    P = M x 2 x Pi x n
    Edit; outcome is in Kw.

    My excel does that for you and you would be able to see what you do, how the line alters and make a change in a specific rmp area.
    I have been looking; still don't know how to get it over to you, sorry.

    What McFlex says is also right, but it alters the power over the whole line (more or less) and is a bit of a "heavy weapon" for such a small change. It IS a lot easier, that's true.

    Thanks philrob; I will look into that. I remember doing that once, way way in the past, so I should know about that.........but my memory is not the best. Didn't think of that anymore, but thank you!!

    Well, I filled in the lines just now and I have to say; it's the weirdest line I have ever seen.......
    That "V" shape, is an actual dip at 5500 rpm. Other than that; line is pretty strange no matter what.
    But the line/screenshot is in the picture; let me know how you want it adjusted and I'll work it out.

    Basicly just after an extra 3 to 5 bhp just to bring it up to pace with the other cars as this car is the only one i can adjust as others are locked.. If its possible that is.???

    Are you sure it's a lack of BHP from the engine or the boost pressure from the turbo?

    I Dont know mate im only learning atm the bmw is down on power for some reason tops out max speed at 210 kph were all the others have 215 to 217 kph im just trying to get it abit more on pace with the others it gets left for dead on the straights

    lol well increasing boost worked but i dont know if it was just boost or the fact i adjusted the values with it but seem to be on the right track now lol

    From the thoerical point of view, if you are talking of steady top speed, you will need more than 5hp increase to obtain 5kph increase. The relationship between top speeds and powers obbeys this expression:

    (TopSpeed2 / TopSpeed1)^3 = (power2 / power1)

    Then, for your numbers >>> 215 / 210 = 1.0238 >>> power2 = (1.0238)^3 *power1 = 1.073*219= 235hp

    You need +16HP!!
