I've just read the profile page for the Howston Dissenter but it doesn't give any info about what revs to upshift at or the safe redline.

Does anyone know or has anyone figured it out?

    Thanks.

I guess safe shift at ~6000-6500 and max ~7000. But I'm just guessing.

    Use whatever turns you on.

    You can short shift too.

You can hear when it valve bounces real easy, recognize the sound and shift before that.

You don't want to be watching a tacho anyways

I wouldn't know the sound of a valve bouncing if I heard it. :)

Anyway, I just realised the AI shift just before 7000 and there's a rev limit warning light on the dash that comes on just after 7000.

I don't want to watch the tacho but I find it useful to know this info before I start.

    Thanks anyway.

74 is a OHV pushrod engine

Valve Bounce: The valve does not stay seated, due to the combined effects of the valve's inertia and resonance of metallic valve springs that reduce the closing force, and allow the valve to re-open partially

    :)

Shifting earlier in some situations can make the car more tractable.
