Here is an example of why Parnelli Jones was the American Gilles Villenueve. I'm awful at linking and editing so IF this starts at the beginning, move it to 1:40. (1 minute 40 seconds) And watch Parnelli begin lapping backmarkers.
Awesome move and skills. And this with this old cars is incedible! I linked this vid today in the morning about FB and this scene didn't get of my head the whole day
The image that stuck with me after viewing it again, was how easily and SMOOTHLY Mark Donohue kept pace with Parnelli without resorting to off track excursions. Two amazing drivers with totally different styles. (plus I got to see the Chaparral prepared Chevy Camaro's with Vic Elford...Can-Am drivers all over these events)(the Dan Gurney/Swede Savage Barracudas/// If I ever purchased one of the modern Challengers, I would find some 3d printer/fabricator to add the Barracuda styling cues to the front)
Absolutely love the 68-72 era before the fuel crisis. There was a sim developed based on this, but GT Interactive's finances doomed it.
