Hi all, I need help deciding based graphical option rfactor 2 which is all I will use. My setup with three monitors will be 5760x1080, sli gtx780 put thought but with the departure of the 780ti r290x and I have several questions:

1 - It is sufficient a single to move gtx780ti or r290x rfactor 2 full?
2 - In rfactor 2 better scale cf or sli?

So my options for mounting are:

    Sli Gtx780
    Single Gtx780Ti
    Single R290X
    CF R290

I appreciate any advice or information about the subject.

Thank you very much and greetings.

Pd: sorry for my English, is a translator

I think any single gpu is suficient for 5760x1080, you need sli for full settings at 5760x1080.
But idk how good is rF2 in sli, so, cant help about that.

CF R290 will be soooo hot for sure.
Single 290x will do great, but I think the 780 series will do even better in rF2.

So in my opinion you have to do a short question:
    Sli Gtx780
    Single Gtx780Ti

    I cant help here.

Okay and then one gtx780 sli is enough to move it to full at 5760x1080?

SLI isn't advisable right now, full stop. You'll get worse performance with it on, than off.

ohhh: ((, then what would be the best option for triple monitor single gtx780ti? r290x or single?

say that sli give worse results? what you mean less fps, fluently? in rfactor1 sli gtx480 and was used quite well.

Greetings and thanks for the comments.

SLI don't seems to be a stable solution on high end games according what I can read on forums. Could come from drivers, from games, and from both. You can be lucky with a game/driver combination, or not, seems lottery. If I had the money, I will not go this way for sure, I will take the most powerfull card with the most powerfull CPU, that's it.

My choice would be wait for the custom R9 290 non-X versions to come out and get 2 with a nice overclock in crossfire. Disable frame pacing for sims (unless it's unbearable) and enable it for all other games.

That being said, the issue with AMD GPUs so far having much lower performance in RFactor 2 compared to nvidia, combined with the price drop to $500 of the GTX 780 (non Ti) means trying to score 2 used GTX 780s for $750-$800 would be awesome as well.

Didnt editing the sli compatibility bits thingy change this though?

Go for the Ti or 780

Coming from a MSi 6990 I've got myself a evga gtx780 ti oc version with stock cooler it is very worth the money....imho.

Not only the frame with Nvidia are better but also the looks, like colors and the surroundings are looking much more photo realistic than with any ATI card. Of course its a matter of taste

I've got the game settings All maxed out inc hdr and res 5912-1080 after bezel comp and 29 cars on track (offline and online).
I'ff got between 50 and 100fps constant :p depending on track, I'ff got no stutters or what so ever.
Only moment when fps runs low is when I drive true dust off my opponents but thats a 342 thing I think (hope) and a matter of staying in front of them and put the pedal to the metal.

I'm going to have to co-sign going with the GTX 780 and all I can say is WOW. I'm also running triple screens with it and maxed out graphics (except wind and crowd) and it's a beast. Now I still have some tweaking to do but it's SOOOO much smoother than my XFX 7870 Crossfire solution, and by FAR.

Read around the forums. rF2 works much better with Nvidia video cards than AMD. SLI is not an option with rF2. That leaves a single 780 which is more than enough. I run a single 760 with 3 monitors and it is good enough for rF2.

I did some comparisons recently as I have gone from triple screens (5910x1200 = 7092000 pixels) and SLI on 2x 680GTX 4GB cards to a single 780 GTX Ti SC and a single screen (2560x1440 = 3686400 pixels).

I didn't test across the 3 screens, but I did do some other tests on single vs SLI before uninstalling the cards on the new single screen that may help you.

I used mostly high settings, with HDR off and both reflections on low, MSAA at level 3 (4x MSAA), FXAA off.... 1 lap in the Megane with AIx19 around MillsMetro

    View attachment 10868

On the same settings with the 680's in SLI across three screens, I got about 45 fps on average, and there was about double the pixels to render, so that holds true with my expectations.

You'll notice that Tim is bang on the money with the statement you get worse performance with SLI on than off... it negatively scales currently.

    HTH

EDIT: Also like to add that I have now increased all the settings to max, turned FXAA on to max, turned HDR on and am getting average of 120fps... work that out!

thank you very much everyone for the advice, I decided to mount a gtx780ti, seeing your impressions I think it's the best option now mismo.mas later if performance improves'll put another card in sli more, though just not necessary.

    regards
