Don't edit but instead create a new file (new rcd, new mas, new package)

Hopefully you guys don't see this as hijacking a topic, but I'm trying to do the same as the topic starter and I think it's useless to make a new topic about that.

I have a question about this. I read the link I wrote two posts above, but as I'm not altering the whole mod, just the talent file, I thought the right way to do it was altering the talent mas.
So I found the mas2 tool, extracted the RCD file, altered it, made a mas file out of it and placed it in the same place the original .mas was.
No errors were given to me.
However; the file doesn't work also! I gave one driver extremely low performance, just to check.
When I extract the file again, the things I altered are there, so it is actually in the file.

Also; when the mod doesn't see the right .mas file; where does it get the performance from than? It should see it.
Is there any other way the game must get info where to look?

Can someone help me out here?
