Does anybody else have more than double or triple FPS drop in rain or am I the only one? With official cars on Sao Paulo on race start my frames drop from 50-60 sunny to 25-30 rain. Later in race in traffic I get between 60-100 FPS sunny but in heavy rain around 30-35 FPS. Rain drops are low and all other option really low. GTX 960M I7 6700 16 GB DDR4 Windows 10 PCIE 3.0x16
I see from your signature you have strong GPU so I guess it is not GPU related. All this is strange because if I read correctly this forum lot of people don't have this huge performance impact in rain. I would like to pinpoint common factor in our systems for this FPS drops.
Ryzen 5 1600 @3.4 asus b350 mobo ddr4 8 giga @2666 psu corsair tx 750 xfx Rx 580 4giga windows 10 home x64 i go from 50 fps to 15 with rain also i disable PP effects to be able to play with good fps. ( i mean good fps not in rain). i think its not only rain the fps issue but also post processing effects.
Just to make it a wee bit clearer: 60% fps drop down for some rain drops...and this was with PP none and just one car!
In another thread one user reported that biggest impact in rain are mirrors. Has anybody tried that? On my system mirrors or no mirrors not much difference (in rain) Btw did anybody have time to test if there are improvements with new build?
For those who have performance problems : Before there is optimisation improvement, configure rf2 like this : - Sun high in the sky (11:00 am - 2:00 am) - No player headlight - If not necessary, no mirror (only if no online and no AI) - Lower AI - Time scale = off (help a lot low CPU range, especially with shadows ON - Realroad = max X4 (especially in the rain, with AI. Like time scale, it is for CPU) Buy process lasso + lasso cpu parking (bitsum). The difference for the CPU is huge if the configuration is good : - RF2 very high priority-E/S etc. - All other process to very low (almost all). Your computer is less fast for everyting, but RF2 works perferctly. And there is a very good core parking.
30 euros to buy process lasso ?. i used it once cause i had cpu problem with witcher 3 . the problem fixed later with a patch. are you sure it worth buy? do you use it with other programs or games so it become a must?
Concerning process lasso (+ lasso CPU parking), for rf2 and a i5 2500K, it strongly improve the performance of the CPU : it is a good advice and it is lifetime license with all updates. Either you let LASSO manage by making some pretty fast settings (good), or you use LASSO so that rf2 is in priority very high while at the same time ALL other processes are in very low priority with very few exceptions. In addition, you optimize your PC almost to excess. I can now play with 103 AI .... (full hd, AA level 5, full circuit detail, full texture detail, cockpit in medium, anisotropic X16 and all disabled and PP disabled. Graphics card settings : forced textures in high quality and frames of pre-made maximum = 1 to decrease lag imput). My computer is now dedicated to rf2 because I bought a TV identical to the one I had in the living room (1m32 at 51cm, Full HD, 10 bits, 8 ms). I have not tested on other games, I have not played a video game for 15 years (GTR2/richard burns rally/RF1/RF2,for me it was simulations not games)
The LGA 1155 Socket supports a variety of cpus. If your motherboard will allow you to use a newer generation cpu, you can get one for dirt cheap. Here is a list of said cpus I found, I'm sure there are many more. list of LGS 1155 cpus
Only a few tests. 100% rain, water on track at 100%, Road Reflections and Raindrops on Ultra. Sunny with mirrors = 103Fps Sunny without mirrors = 109Fps Rain with mirrors = 59Fps Rain without mirrors = 62Fps Rain with mirrors and three cars in front = 38Fps Performance with a single car and sunny weather is bad but with rain it is terrible. In order to maintain an acceptable rate of FPS in the event of a possible change of weather during the race, it is necessary to use a very low graphic configuration.
