Hi guys,

Since the new build im struggling with freezes in my server. Random freezes on clients, in every session.

Theese are my specs:
I9 9900k
64GB
2x NVME 1TB
Windows Server 2022

I only have rfactor2, liveracers and r2la plugin running. The installation of rf2 it's a fresh one (yesterday)

What's the issue here?

Thanks

Some questions to understand the problem.
  • Is a dedicated server?
  • Is a SteamCMD server?
  • Are you using the last build?
  • How are configured the upload and download speeds in the rF2 server?
  • How many cars are you using? Human, AIs?
  • Do you have the custom skins transfer enabled?
  • What is the bandwith of the line?
  • Do you have a minimum guaranteed bandwidth?
  • Do the freezes happen at the same point of the circuit?
  • Do the freezes happen when a driver joins the server?
  • What content are you using?

  • What content are you using. Official (BTCC & Brands Hatch/Donington), but it happen no matter the content

Try 40 Mb in upload and download
If your guaranteed bandwith is bigger that that and continue having issues, i'd check the ping of the clients during a race to know if there is one (or more) that fluctuates a lot.

Today i have a race, so i will test that right away.
Any check box in the second menu ?

If you are referring to the event options, i think that doesn't matter.
I had the same problem some time ago and i realised that from time to time the ping of a pilot went from less than 100 to more than 400 or 500. In that moment people had stuttering.
The bad thing is that the only way to check this is to be during the race looking the pings of the pilots.
I don't know if there is a way to log the pings constantly.

It went better, still some freezes happen but with less frequency and shorter. Nothing wrong with client pings from what I see.

It's strange.
Could be CPU spikes? (although with that cpu shouldn't happen)
It would be good if you could log the use of the cores of the CPU.

I think it can be some configuration that is missing. First time in years that i have this problem. The only difference it's the build.

I will record it

I can't think of other parameters in the rF2 server configuration that can cause stuttering.

But could be a process in the server that starts without your control and saturates a CPU core.
Could be the antiviral or any other Windows process.
We have disabled the Windows update in our server. In fact we run a script every hour (IIRC) that stops and disables the update service, because form time to time this service is enabled automatically.

Could be something in the clients side that is being worst in this build (we haven't detected problems in our league).
Two parameters of the Player.json that can cause stutering are:
"Pause If Focus Lost":false,
"Inactive Sleep Time":-1,
"Active Sleep Time":-1,
These are the correct values to avoid stuttering if another program takes the Windows focus.
