I thought the Daytona was discontinued int he 70's and never picked up again as a brand? But at the Bathurst 12 hours there's one racing and apparently it is a modern car, not a retro car or anything. It looks like a 60's Daytona but other than mentioning it a lot they didn't talk about it much. Does anyone know what the deal is with this car? It is a gorgeous machine- just like the 60's cars were.
It is a new model although not a original. I think its commissioned by a 3rd party company. It runs huge power aswell afaik, i've seen it do a few races but can't remember the specs. I'll post them if i find them.

Thanks for the quick reply! What a beautiful machine. That would make an awesome rF2 mod for a spec series. It really maintains the look of the orig car.
Don't join in on the thread will ya http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/18239-Bathurst-12-hour?p=246178#post246178
I didn't see this thread at all, it doesn't appear in 'new posts' does it? Watched most of the race weekend too! Brilliant event, great live stream and really cool to have race control and team radio feeds.
Fantastic event, Even the Abarths provided entertaiment... For the internationals . Peter Brock (King of the Mountain) died in a Daytona.
I wasn't asking about the race, I was asking about the car. Read the thread title DD. Or better yet, leave.
They worked hard to get that car repaired after that and had to wait up all night to get parts in from all around the world. They got the car out on track for the race but then DNF'ed late in the race after leading their class for a while. This car had some of the highest speeds going down Conrod but lost out a lot in the twisty bits.
Well it is based around an American classis (I know that should be classic, but that is what it says on their website that has been up since 2010, and spell checkers have been out for some time now, perhaps it's because they don't pay attention to the small details like steering, suspension etc!) I'm only kidding around a bit, all my life I have had to resist buying an American muscle car, so beautiful, so powerful, so awe inspiring, so not going around that next corner.
