How the flying fudge do you guys do it? I fail hard, so hard. I got SketchUp because it's free and was the top result on Google, tried and failed. I don't even know where to begin. I give up after 3 seconds because I have no clue what I am doing. Tried to draw the side of a car like I do in Photoshop and it ended up being a blob on the ground. Now I'm frustrated, ruined my relaxed evening. Yay! So what do you use, where do you begin? I tried watching YouTube videos, but I still failed hardcore. Maybe my first mistake was trying to use SketchUp, but I read that it was the easiest thing to use. Yeah right. https://123moviesog.com
I, by NO means am an expert of any kind. I`m also just learning to 3d model but I use a student version of 3ds max 2014. There are a lot of great tuts out there from basic stuff to more advanced stuff. I`m doing the Fiat 500 tut, it`s old so there are some things you have to keep an eye on... for EG in the tut the author uses "Edit Mesh" when it`s really better to use "Edit Poly" (I learned that the hard way ) http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorials/fiat500/fiat500.php I`d say for whatever software you try or can get, just look out tuts for it... I can`t speak for all but I`m sure a lot of the guys that are now great modelers probably started doing tuts. You must have patience though as certainly with max, there is a lot to learn. I`ve now started this 500 model 3 times but each time I do it I learn more and do a better job of it. It`s still got things that will be improved for sure but for a learner it`s coming along. Here`s a quick pic... F500 (8) by tjc 3D, on Flickr More good tuts here but also for max... http://tutorial-z.com/
