---------------------------------------------- SOLVED: Solution was to disable UAC. ---------------------------------------------- I click "Launch rFactor2" and nothing happens. I've reinstalled many times, and restarted many times. Same result every time. No loading icon, no task manager task, nothin. If there are any logs I can attach, let me know. Thanks for any help!
Ok, can you run as administrator while leaving task manager open and see if it appears at all, even for a split second. Also, what operating system do you run?
Have you setup your video options from the launcher? Try lowering your resolution and see if it works. Some specs on your machine might come in handy also. Check event viewer in windows control panel/ administrative events.. there could be some details there. Still nothing after the config was set, and nothing in the event viewer. I've played in the past quite frequently, and just reinstalled after a while of not having it. Specs are (roughly) i7 3770k @ 3.5 GTX 570 16GB DDR3 Plenty of HDD and SSD Anything else you need from that? I dont think it's a specs issue, tbh. Played a lot of rF2 in the past -- just not working now.
Still nothing after the config, I've run rF2 many many times in the past so it's likely not a specs issue.
Do you have changed something after rF2 has worked on that machine the last time? Maybe installed/uninstalled Anti-Virus-Software, other Software, Driver... Or changed some Hardware?
Dont think so. Just reformatted near the middle of the year, and only remembered to reinstall rF2 as of recently. Otherwise -- nothing changed. :/
Sorry to hear jetliner, I think at this stage you might want to submit a support ticket. You mention above, nothing after config. Does that mean the launcher does load but the sim doesn't? Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Hmm, something must have happened, when it have worked before the formatting. Did you try it with setting the windows UAC to the lowest level. And which build did you install, and was it the "Full" or the "Lite" Version? And did you download it from HERE?
By any chance you never edited the Player or MP .JSON files did you ? Maybe associated *.Json with NotePad or another editor. ? You do this and rF2 will do nadda as you describe. It will just sit there and look at you. hehehe
Well trust me don't "save as" if you do. hehehe Sorry still not working hey. I am sending a mobo/cpu and HDD to a fellow rF2'er. I put my rF2 archive and my rF2 folder on a partition for him. Booted to launcher , mod manager, etc. no problem with no credentials. Of course he has to validate it when he gets it in his tower. I like the new little validate box too. What I would try....... do NOT uninstall rfactor2 Manually delete all the files from the folder but leave the folder. Backup anything you need but do not leave it in the folder. Install Lite build again point to the same folder, make sure it is not Drive:\rFactor2\rFactor2. When finished DONT run config, DONT run icon Go to rfactor2/Launcher folder and double click "Launch rFactor"
Did all that, now it stays open in the task manager, but nothing is actually on the screen. So the exe is running in Windows, but its not actually there. :/
Sorry to waste everyone's time. It was all UAC. Forgot to disable it after reinstalling Windows a while back. Thanks for all the help and suggestions!
