    Help

I have a DSL connection. It has been reliable for years when racing GPL. I've gone online with rf2 for the first time this week and I constantly blink in and out of races. Are there certain settings needed to get a solid connection. GPL has a whole bunch of settings in an ini file to optimize online performance.

Thanks. I've made changes. Will check it out tonight when I get home from work. No online races at the moment.

Another question... I've seen people comment while online about lag quality (or lack of). Is there a way to see the ping number to the server?

Yes, simply enter the "/ping" command (without quotes) in the chat dialog.

When Ricknau joins the server, everyone starts to blink in and out and when he leaves it stops. This is on 3 different servers.

The obvious question: Wired or Wireless LAN?

Wired. And as i say, it has never been a problem before.

Get 3000kb down rate, 450kb up rate.

Let' see how i do tonight. The defaults in the multiplayer file were nowhere near correct

I was wondering, are you hosting on the same connection as you are a client?

Sorry Tim I should have ended this thread with a declaration that I have the problem fixed. Just needed to tweak the connection settings in ini.

What did you have to adjust, and why? (For my benefit)

I had to choose the correct type of connection, for me it is dsl.
Also entered the data rates that my connection is capable of.
