bump specular map t0 lerp t1 vertex alpha

    Does anyone know what causes this effect on the road surface?

    I am trying to add the bump "specular map t0 lerp t1 vertex alpha" shader in 3DsimED3.

    At first glance, it LOOKS like there are no smoothing groups set up (or set incorrectly). I don't know how that can be fixed in SimEd though.

    Are the edge vertices of those triangles welded?

    To smooth go to EDIT menu "normals" panel. Can use Auto smooth with 45 degrees. :D

    I am only new to max. Not sure how to do that yet. I know the problem looks impossible with simed.

    I am wondering however looking at the next two images:

    The first one is the road surface which I copied the textures from in simed. The second the one I copied the textures to. My question is why do both surfaces look completely different when they have the same textures assigned?

    I ask this question because the road surface in the first image does not have the effect as shown in the image in my original post.

    OK. Found the key. Exported to max then back to Simed.
