One of the areas that needs improvement in order to both add realism and provide cleaner races is live sanctioning. Ideally some system should be introduced to automatically determine whose fault is a determined incident. After a situation is recalled by a driver to be analysed (by pressing a button after an incident), the game would take the situation let's say 5 seconds prior to the recalling instant. By comparing the actions of AI simulating the situations with the real ones, a resolution would be applied. The starting point of the situation could also be determined by iterating until the crash could be avoided by the AI. The driver that starting at that moment could have avoided the crash by better following what AI does to avoid the crash would get penalized. A much easier thing to apply could be to present replay of a determined recalled action for those watching the race in spectator mode or even "new judge mode". Besides those recalled actions, it would automatically show replays for determined situations. The variables should take the idea of Gerald's replay tool and autocam.ini combined. This should be of great help for big leagues where a race official is available but doesn't have sufficient eyes to monitor everything.
I think especially for leagues your "new judge mode" would be nice. I would be prefer to call and use it as a 'race control' mode, which can be set up using a seperate password (the admin password really). This could you give another tab which featured all kinds of controls an administrator would use You could even add a 'pitwall' or 'engineer' mode where you can manage a team or driver, something Marcel vaguely hinted at in the June roadmap update
Indeed "Race Control Mode" sounds better. "TV Broadcast Mode" with alternating cameras and infographics for race info would also rock.
The system of iracing sanctions is rubbish. I hope that if they implement something, other than that crap
