I have two questions to ask you, I have not found clear answers : - RALLY SIMULATION : What is the most realistic rally simulation, really the most realistic. Aside from Richard burns rally I want to replace. - I only have 10 hours on Assetto Corsa. My only reason to play is that on RF2 we have almost no supercar / hypercar / sportscar, and I think I start to appreciate despite the lack of realism. My FFB settings: gain 100, filter 0, min force for T500rs 2%, kerb 65, road effects 65, all the rest at 0. My question: what are your settings, dear users of RF2 ?
Richard Burns rally truly blows everything out of the water If you want a hardcore simulation It also feels very low latency & responsive I re-installed it to include the VR patch + the advanced physics update & wow ...mind blowing my good it has firm lasting appeal like rfactor2 has I do have dirt rally ( seems good but poor in comparison to RBR ) RBR is also free now
Dirt Rally is by far the best (never played richard burns though). DR also supports VR if that interests you. For a T500, I spent years with that wheel. Set the force to 60% as it is the most linear. Anything above that will give you a very non-linear response and make the FFB inconsistent. For AC, i set the min force around 4%, filter 0% and the road effects were around 20% along with slip(those are personal pref). Just keep in mind that the road, slip and curb effects can mask a lot of good ffb if you turn them up too much. Get the FFB clip app on racedepartment.com and adjust to ensure you aren't clipping.
I had RBR back in the day when I was crap at driving games and using a controller, it was too difficult back then. Now I'm older, wiser, have a wheel and still crap at driving games I thought I'd give it another shot. Unfortunately it will either recognise my wheel or my pedals but not both together and 4 hours on google couldn't rectify the situation, so for me Dirt Rally wins because it just works.
Richard burns rally, improved version (physics, content) : - The FFB .... is absolutely incredible for such an old simulation. Better than AC. Really. - Graphics : Horrible, plus I can not put in full HD. - Content : Pretty huge - installation : complicated, long and difficult. Rallyesim.com. - The ergonomics of RBR is that of an old game, but with the added content you have to go through a horrible new interface. Conclusion : I will test again, but I think I will stop RBR despite the good FFB. - Dirt rally : Way too expensive. Someone sells his cheap license ?
In seriousness though, I've occasionally checked out the rally sim scene as it's always fascinated me (despite being really, truly, terribly awful at rally games) and each time the community has still seemed to agree that RBR is the business. Unfortunately I think anything else, even if you can get it at a price you're comfortable with, will pale in comparison. I think a while ago (probably last time I read up on things) an upcoming title was going to have dynamically generated stages, avoiding the sort of 'clocking' you see in RBR videos where people are driving at 11/10ths (not a term I'd normally use, but fits here) and in a manner only possible because they've memorised the stages - which seems against the point of rally stages and notes. Reminded me of Lotus 3 from the old days, but that game was another example of a worse (or ageing) driving model being bolstered by a new feature. I again suspect this game, if I wasn't imagining things, will still lag behind RBR in raw dynamics despite any new fandangled track generating feature, and you'll probably find yourself wrestling with the installation etc despite knowing it's like hitting your head against a wall. (I'm guessing - I haven't tried RBR for many years - but you sure make it sound that way )
Dirt Rally is £7.99 in the steam sales and comes up for sale often. Stick it on your wishlist and Steam will even tell you when it is on sale.
Richard Burns rally looks & works great in VR Also UI is fine for VR too Not sure how good it looks on a monitor I installed it downloaded the x2 updates then installed the VR patch & boom all worked fine except no ffb -I found a windows reg. alteration that sorted it Seriously dirt rally is only 20% of what RBR is , after using RBR there is never a need for another rally sim
I guess Sebastian Loeb Rally EVO is underrated since nobody mentioned it... I wouldn't say it's RBR, but it's close to Dirt Rally territory. At least in my opinion with my crappy old G27.
Where can you get this rbr full game for free,I lost my installation that was years old,it’s quite amazing how those physics have stood the test of time for a rally sim,I have mucho fond memories of rbr,10/10 would love to try again
Wait what? Its free?! How do i get it? How do i get the best package with updated everything? Thank you!
I'm pretty sure I got it here, it was fine & virus http://www.newgamesbox.net/richard-burns-rally-free-download/ Do take a moment to read the instructions - just copy/paste the pass words its freeware now so its not stealing as far as I'm aware here's the VR update I use oculus rift it works brill http://www.kegetys.fi/rbrvr-v1-5-fix-for-latency-camera-options/ before though be sure to update with these patches RBR 101 RBR 102 richard burns real physics -this one optional , but i do recommend its like a nice icing on top of a really good cake only problem I had was ( bodnarv2 ) no ffb, but a google search led me to a wndows registery change which I did with zero confidence ...but it worked! thank goodness because the ultimate rally experience I now have runs seamless in VR, it even runs perfectly on my surface pro for replays! Ps if any trouble with links just do what i did find through googling etc
