Anyone else run a 1080ti? The optimisation is so poor, I have all settings in medium/low/off and with supersampling at 1.5 I can't get 90fps unless I am in practice or on track with few cars near. Can anyone with the same GPU offer some tip
I'm guessing you're using VR? This is from memory, so I may be wrong, but here's what settings I believe I'm using: Circuit detail: Medium Player detail: Full Opponent detail: Medium Texture detail: Medium Texture filter: X16 Anisotropic Special Effects: Low Shadows: High Shadow blur: Fast Soft particles: Low Rain drops: Off Road reflections: Low Environment reflections: Low Visible vehicles: 25 Antialiasing: 4 Post Processing: Off In SteamVR, I'm using a supersampling rate of 2.0, but I think that's about 1.4 in Oculus Also, in player.json I'm only rendering 100m behind me in the rear view mirror (I forget what the variable is called. Rearview Mirror Distance or something?) And forcing AI drivers to use High textures... again, I can't remember the variable name. With the above, I'm getting around 50-70% GPU utilisation at 7pm, Sebring with 45 GTE/LMP2s. However, I'm using ASW, so only rendering at 45fps. To achieve 90fps, I believe I have to either race at 12pm or : Shadows: meduim Shadow blur: off Visible vehicles: 18 Antialiasing: 2 If you're using a monitor though, I've no idea what's up with your system. I can run everything maxed out at 1440p.
@davek You don't mention what MOBO and CPU you have as these could have a large bearing on how much performance you can get out of your 1080 Ti. For instance, does your MOBO support PCie v3? I run VR with a 980 Ti, i5 4690 K and settings similar to @marvelharvey above. I generally get around 90 FPS and 40-50% headroom.
Oh, I forgot a very important point. I'm running a Samsung Odyssey, which has x1.7 the pixel count of the Rift and very GPU hungry.
"Also, in player.json I'm only rendering 100m behind me in the rear view mirror (I forget what the variable is called. Rearview Mirror Distance or something?) And forcing AI drivers to use High textures... again, I can't remember the variable name." This sounds interesting. I have to look into that (if i need to when i get my RTX2070). But if we can turn down AI model quality and use high textures, that sounds interesting (if i need to bring model qual down with I7 8700K), lol. I dont know yet. Will have the video card in 2 Days. My GTX980 run daytime 60FPS solid, but night and/or rain drops me to about 40FPS here and there. Hoping the new video card will keep it at 60FPS and any trick in JSON or settings that keeps the sim looking good but boost a Little FPS here and there is interesting.
I have a GTX 1080ti. Very happy with it. Using triples, 24". 1080p. CPU is I7 6600k. Pretty much every option in max.and PP on Medium. I get 70-100 FPS at Sebring with the S397 GT3 pack with 20 cars on the track.
Thats great. What about rain and night? On my system with lower settings i drop under 60fps during night or rain. Hoping RTX2070 will fix that.
No big changes at night or rain. The biggest drop obviously is at the start of the race but it is pretty good after that.
Not really unless you already have 100% CPU usage on one core. A 9th gen Intel is still basically a 6th gen Intel with more cores and slightly higher clock speeds. Age of CPU doesn't mean much these days when Intel has stood still for three years :\.
Track detail on Min is a good one A lot of 3rd party tracks are useless due to badly optimised AA set to multisample in nvidia control panel No or low shadows Overclock your cpu if you can & ha e good cooling
One important thing to do with Odyssey is to enable WMR reprojection (their form of ASW). https://steamcommunity.com/games/719950/announcements/detail/1652133167137673234 I own 1080ti, I run everything maxed out (except for reflections, where I can't see difference), 2xAA 1.5 SS, CV1 Sometimes I don't get 90FPS, but with ASW I can't tell the difference aside from slight corruption on HUD which I have off most of the time. It is expected that visible vehicles cause drop in framerate, so the fewer you see in scene the higher your chances of 90FPS. One last thing - CPU is important too, so if you see low GPU utilization, try dropping number of visible vehicles and/or shadow levels. You can use Afterburner to see GPU utilization. If it is close to 90%, drop visual settings, most importantly SS and AA, if it is below, you could raise settings.
What i can say is that i´ve never played rf2 with such a good balance between performanceXquality that we have now. I´m in a 980 ti, win 10, 4790k running at 5680X1080 60mhz and pretty happy with it
I run i7 7700k In the FPSvr counter I run it says CPU is running at around 35% and the GPU at around 98% Shadows are set to low, reflections are all off, and circuit detail is medium as anything less looks too bad. I can run settings alot higher when in practice or quali when there are less cars around but in race there's no chance, first few laps 75fps is about the best I can get. ASW is not an option, I am one of the people that notices it lots, it looks terrible at 45fps for me
