Thanks MJP. Yeh, only one install at present. I have been thinking it would be good to have two though, one for testing with just ISI content and one for testing mods etc. How would I go about having two individual installs? Got any tips?
Nothing to do with modding Tj imho it is just sensible no matter what to keep PACAKGES ARCHIVED SEPERATELY all she wrote have a PACKAGES and a PACKAGES OTHER Dont leave anything you don't run in packages ....its messy 2 installs you use the 'seperate packages folder" method Copy and paste the rF2 folder anywhere, run its launcher ( not your shortcut for first one) re path Packages from the same folder as install #1 , install all pacakages, done.
Yeh mate, I don`t have anything in my Packages that I don`t use. I`ll set up a second install then. Ta.
Oh TJ I forgot about data it is a bit of a drama, hope they fix this. To get around this when I tried to multi folders I did below , I saw no use in the end for myself. 1. I did a fresh install named it rFactor2 and did settings but installed no packages. 2. Copy that folder to same partition name it rFactor2-B (....whatever ) 3. Go back to rfactor2 and install packages 4. When you want to use the second folder. Rename rFactor2 to rFactor2-A Rename Rfactor2-B to rFactor2 You can use Batchrun to do that for you. edit : actually it is a pain and convoluted must be a better way. BTW tj, I use BATCHRUN to start rfactor2, Task Manager, Chrome, Afterburner/OSD, Fanatec, Joy2Key, Fraps and Photofiltre with one shortcut. It also will drop what you want to task bar and keep others open. lol too easy http://www.outertech.com/en/create-batch-file
No worries D... haven`t tried to set up another install yet Sounds like things could get a bit messy though lol so maybe I`m better off with one atm. I`m firmly touching wood when I say this but I`ve had no real problems with rf2 with one install so possibly better to leave it like that me thinks. If I do try I`ll let you know. I`ll check out that link too...
Yeah I would stick to one folder mate , I have. I did it to check between builds 45 and 60 etc etc you could rename them and run. Now I would not bother anyways. The BATCHRUN is def worth getting. install it save the folder somewhere and uninstall ie: it runs standalone np.
I think one can do that with dos .bat files that are still working with new windows versions I believe? Could not survive without .bat files, they make many things lot easier. Multiple folders are as complicated as one likes to make them, they don't need to be complicated, simple renaming stuff is enough and .bat file for that is very easy to make as everyone knows dos commands, right? I'm still taking out cmd when needing to do any more serious file operations, learned to that when there was no Windows games and some things are still easier/faster/"only possible" there than with GUI
