This has been a recurring issue as of late where I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere. At the start of the race when I press the "i" key; this enables AI mode which is fine. However the "AI controlled" car will run at a slow pace and spin at multiple corners. It doesn't matter what tyre of track it is (ISI or third party), which tyre compound, type of weather etc - his problem keeps on happening and I can not for the life of me understand why. The other AI are fine, but "my" car is abnormal. I want to run an AI only race, but this issue is denting it. Does anyone know of this issue? Is it fixable?
I just did another test on this and I have found that this problem happens with all the car sets I have.
If I remember correctly, the AI controlled player car doesn't obey to settings like AI strength or aggression. It seems to always run at some default setting, 100% AI strength I guess as that's the default.
Thanks, I never thought of that. I did a test and lowered the AI strength to 100% and I find that the 'AI Controlled' car will now keep up with the others. Thanks! I wonder what the default AI aggression setting could be?
Turns out I jumped the gun a bit there. The AI controlled car still drops 20 seconds in for laps to the nearest car. :-(
Just wondering why you need to give AI control your car if you just want to see AI race? Just retire at the beginning of a race and watch them race... Maybe I'm missing something. I thought AI control was for offline endurance racing with driver swaps.
The problem with that, is if I retire then the race becomes out of sync with the live timing and plugins, such as the TV plugin and the automated camera.
Yes but when I record the race from start to finish, I will miss out on the start. As I can only retire my car after the lights go out.
