Due to a Contact with another User, i wanted to try out if it is possible, to create a Bones animated waving Flag in 3DSMax.
It is possible, but depending on what you want to have, it can results in an insane Piece of Work with a lot of Bones.
Unfortunately can the Cloth Modifier not be used, because it doesn't support Bones.
    Howsoever.

I want to offer the animated Flag that i did make, here in the Forum, just in Case if anybody is interested in it.
The Flag has no vertical Movement and because the Movement is made by moving the Bones manually, there are some small Distortions, but they shouldn't be very noticable, when you are driving on Track. :)
The zip File contains the 3DSMax Scene (made in Max 2012), the Texture, Template and anm File.
The Max Scene has all Bones, so you can modify it and export the modified anm, if you want.
There are 12 mapped Flags available.
Hint: the waving "Speed" can be modified with the PlaybackRate Value in the Instance Entry.
NOTE: Never! remove/collapse the Skin Modifier from one of the Flags, to keep the Animation working. ;)

    DOWNLOAD

NOTE: There is another animated Flag from @DimmG , that you can download in THIS Post.

I have replaced the Video in the opening Post, to better show what you get.
And the Flags, every single one of course, can be positioned wherever you want. ;)

Thank you for providing this MAX file. I was using the cloth animation technique with garment modifier, but couldn't figure out why the .ANM file created with gMotor tools didn't work. Now I understand that cloth isn't supported by gMotor tools, it makes sense.

I found 3d flag with bones animation in fbx format. Imported it in Max and it works good. Made anm and exported mesh - animation looks not as good as in Max but its works in rf2.
Maybe anyone can show me the problem or fix the issue. I believe it would be useful for many projects. Thanks!

With a help of Chris I finally made the working flag animation. Thanks!

So I want to share it to the community. I hope it will be useful for some modders.

I did add a Hint, to the Post from @DimmG, to my first Post of this Thread, that the Visitors will notice it and find it. ;)

I've uploaded an updated zip File for the animated Flags, that now also contains all exported gmt and a File with the SCN Entries, that can be used.
I also fixed a small Issue in the 3DSMax Scene File, where the Number of Frames, for the ANM File Output, was only set to 15, instead of 24 (all Frames).
The 3DSMax Scene File is still made with the 2012 Version, so it can be loaded in all newer Versions. ;)
