I have 3 Questions: the Cars in 1985 have no Brake Discs glow, is this right? the Cars had Rainlights? and should there be a Backfire and where?
Steel brakes in 1985 therefore brake glow is very unlikely. No point in having rainlights on ovals, they don't run when it rains, on road courses I'm not sure. The engines ran on methonal fuel which burns without a visible flame therefore its unlikely that any backfire flames would be visible.
No rain light that I can see http://www.race-cars.com/carsold/march/m85cx1/m85cx1pi.htm I never thought of that about the methenol and back fire . That's a good catch.
that is why it became standard procedure at the end of refueling to spray a jet of water on the fueling intake socket. The fuel didn't burn yellow so it wasn't readily apparent if anything was on fire.
Allright, I think I will give the #76 a shot. I haven't painted a skin in a while so the Canadian Tire car should be a good start. If noone else plans on painting that car right now, I will do it. Given the fact that Villeneuve didn't drive the 500, that will be road car version only for now.
HAHAHA!!! I was struck by some motivation as soon as I got off work last night and before my girlfriend showed up I just didn't get a chance to post it. @hitm4k3r, if you still want to do it, I can send you what i currently have. I don't want to discourage additional assistance. The only logo i don't have the the one on the top next to the pop off valve and Castrol. And I can't quite make out the front endplate logo. Might be Vandervell Engine Bearings but i'm not sure. Johnny Parson's drove the car in the 500
That was a short skinning adventure Joke aside, I can take on another car. As you have allready started it doesn't make much sense to progress on someone else work, as you have allready made your self comfortable with the skin. Next up on my list would be the Fittipaldi car #40, wich is a bit more complex but should still be doable for my skill set, especialy as there is alot of reference available. That means three different skins if I am not completely wrong, as the Michigan livery looked a bit different.
Yeah sorry about that. I'm like, I can knock it out quick. It was the Road America winner, and I knew a guy that knew Jacques from snowmobile racing. So Chief, do you have any other photo sites up your sleeve?? I found that site with that #76 and that site has a ton of reference! It just doesn't quite help with those Gilmore cars http://www.danrincphoto.com/racefiles/1985.php#expand2 You may have to do a little bit of a modification of the under tray I thought this was an interesting one
So I just wanted to give an update as I made progress, but I do need some logo assistance. -Gilmore Cars (#14, #44, #84) After typing in "Simonsig Foyt" into Google, that got me just about everything I needed for Foyt's car! http://mb2501.proboards.com/thread/7939/logo-ids-foyt-1985?page=1 I'm still looking for a couple things Logo #1 - It's on other vintage race cars I believe. I just can't figure it out Logo #2 - It's Break Free, same as the dick Simon cars, but I just haven't found it. Logo #3 - I found a plain Tony Lama, but not that one. I may have to make it The #84 has the Calumet Farms logo. I found a pic good enough that I should be able to make that logo #44 Has the "AJ Foyt" thing on the side. I found this, which is close to what is on that side. Can anybody make out the exact details? Arciero Racing #12 I still need to do the road course version yet. I'm looking for the "ARCIERO racing" font on the side? #76 Canadian tires racing - I'm missing the top logos. I see they are on the sleeve of the driver suit (I can't find that pic now) but I still can't find them. FYI the pic is flipped The #7 is done as good as I'm considering as complete. I'm away on vacation starting on Wednesday. I'm hoping to going to try and get them uploaded with what I have done before I leave.
I hope that helps https://www.replicarz.com/searchprods.asp http://www.indycals.net/decals/indy/85foytmarch.html https://www.pinterest.es/rusch_william/forza-gilmore/
