Hi all, I have been trying to tweak the graphic settings in the past few days. If I set Shadows to Max, every thing looks nice, but the FPS is bad. When I change it to High, I can lock my FPS to 60, however, I can see distant shadows pop out on the road. This is evident when trees are casting shadows on the road. I can also see tree shadows changing from blurry to clear while the car is approaching it. Looks very unreal. Are there any way to fix this problem?
Well... when you want that problem to be fixed, what would be the purpose of the 'Max' setting then? It's the same as saying: Max shadows is to heavy for my pc so I turn them off, but then I don't have any shadows!! - Come on, ISI.. fix this please.. Not going to happen
Maybe the next generation Graphic Card could fix the performance issue..... I tried to overclock my GTX780, but there is no improvement in FPS. RF2 looks really beautiful with Max Shadows + optimal Shadow Blur. But the FPS...
Keep in mind that decreasing shadow quality will cause two things: - usage of lower resolution shadow textures - so shadows are less precise (more blurry) - casting less shadows or at closer distances only - so more distant objects will stop casting shadows
Blurry shadow is ok for me because shadows are not that sharp and clear in real life. But I don't like the sudden change of shadows or pop out shadows in close distance. This is evident even when I set Shadows to High.
Let me guess. Mills? I see a lot of weird things with the shadows in build 660 but Mills is the most obvious. Have also heard the problem has been reported by the beta testers. Let's hope there will be a fix soon.
Just as strange as this here it moves with the vehicle and appeared sporadically, last observed on lime rock. The shape and size is varying. View attachment 12695 Shadows on high.
I have a similar issue, the shadow draws at the fences like following me, this happen in all tracks, even the ISI ones.
Same here, fences shadows are growing 'live' in front of the car. usually on pit exit, or maybe because the speed is low and its more noticeable. any track.
that is shadow draw distance for fences, and every game has shadow draw distance, major objects have it further, minor objects closer, the only thing that differs in between the games is how far the draw distance is, you can see this happening even on GT5 or Forza videos, only simply not so close
I have my game maxed out and I have the darker shadows noticeably building up a few meters ahead of me. Also at Mills I get weird spotted pop ups on the asphalt at certain points of the track (like the spray tool in MS Paint).
probably normal map shadows on the road surface, they might have adjusted the settings of shadows with recent builds who knows, im sure if enough of people reports that its too close, they will increase the draw distance again
