    This looks very good!
Have you ever considered to add some variety on the grass?! I mean in some area with ground and mud without grass?! it would add more variability to the track instead of the all green grass!

Well, damn me and wanting everything to be perfect!

I was almost done uploading when I decided I would catch up a little on my PMs, and I noticed that Tosch sent me a PSD with a new normal map for the evergreen with a cone shape instead.

So I applied this to all evergreen's normal maps and also used Tosch's OPC wall textures, as mine were much too bright (someone already had mentioned about this, it sort of slipped my mind) I noticed his were just the right color.

So I just started the upload, should take 2-3 hrs to get online.

Hang tight, be patient, you will not regret this! You will go to sleep late tonight, I promise :)

Yes I do :) I already mentioned that I would be doing the blending later on, since geometry is not finalized at this point, so it would not be wise to do blending at this stage.

That's why I wanted my grass texture to have no visual repetitions, since I cannot blend them at the moment, so it had to be as good as possible.

The previous textures had heavy visible repetitions, and that really bothered me :)

    Regarding high res texture.

Why not just take that 4000x4000 texture or what ever huge size it now was, and just drag it over to a 1024x1024 box and dont RESIZE/scale the texture in the new box. Just make the pattern loop perfect in the smaller box without rescaling.

Voila, a smaller texture block, but fitted with higher texture sample within it, or maybe it isnt that simple?

Just to prepare you with what you are about to try, so you don't have a heart attack when you see this! :) Just kidding, but I'm really proud to have come this far now. The trees are almost to my liking. Might do some additional touches on them, but the selection is solid, might change 1 tree, if I find a better replacement, and everything goes well together.

These shots have been made around 5-6am, for more dramatic lighting :) If you think those shots are edited, fear not, they are not!

Hope it looks as good in normal daylight. I thought the last update was the biggest/most progress! This will be a nice companion!

Well, the thing is, 1024 is 16 times smaller than 4096, so there will be visible repetitions if I do that.

2048 would be a better idea for this type of solution.

When I'm done with the mesh and ready to blend the terrain, I'll be able to make a choice. Until then, we'll stay with what he have now :)

Well he was talking about geometry, so maybe that? Would be nice to have some rough angles smoothed out a bit, and perhaps the removal of some of the guard rails and catch fencing.

Waiting for 0.97e, my buddy Frenchy decided to do a quick hot lap in the Clio... enjoy:)
This (ladies and gentlemen:) is Rfactor2 "almost" maxed out.
Highlights include around 77fps averaged, HDR on, MULTIVIEW on, 15 opponents.
Filmed by a crappy cell phone cam, the colours in person are way more lifelike I assure you.
Normally we race exclusively in cockpit view, but were getting a closer look at pleclair's work:)
Trying to upload pics of my settings, but seems I can't upload pics?
