I think Tim has said that the devs might be doing some optimization for ati users,,but dont quote me on that

Handbags lopl Mirror hit I don't know, aka 60fps sync here. What I don't know can't hurt me hey. hehehe
I gained 50 FPS sitting in the garage at mills by turning off mirrors and yes, it doesn't matter how many mirrors, as soon as you turn them back on, 50 FPS is instantly gone. 7970 in Eyefinity here.
Im a nvidia user I keep mirrors off all the time If ISI could do some fps saving options: -Render mirrors every 2nd or 3rd frame only -Mirror rear view distance -mirror detail level This should help
No changes here. Just tested mirrors at Sepang, Result: mirrors off 160fps at the pit. mirrors on 70fps at same place!!! There is something seriously wrong with the mirrors for sure. AMD 7850 1gb.
Just tested and also gained ~10fps with no mirrors in LRP (using vsync). But I need mirrors to avoid contacts so it's not really an option for me. Hope they sort it out if possible.
I think a lot of work is needed still on the mirrors. I don't get too much of a hit on my system, but the image quality is quite poor and the aliasing is virtually zero. iRacing has excellent mirrors rendering so it can be done in dx9.
I get a considerable frame rate hit with mirrors on as well. Not sure how much as it probably varies from track to track, but it's often enough to push fps below 60 at some points on a circuit. This really has to be a priority as mirrors are essential.
It depends what track I'm using but in many cases I got 40-50% hit to my fps. That is huge because gaining such a fps back means turning settings from max/high to medium/low. Not sure if mirrors effects more to AMD users but there is seriously something wrong. Detail settings to mirrors should fix this. I have heard people talking about how much mirrors reduces fps but last night i tested it my self and was like WOOOOAA. I can jump from medium settings to all Max details just by turning mirrors off. That is sick
just like to add the FPS drops with mirrors simply by having them On/Off, if you have no mirrors in view you still get an FPS drop, if you have one or three virtual mirrors On the FPS drop is the same. if ever there was an area for better optimisation it's the mirrors, sure they should affect FPS regardless but it's simply too much currently.
I made some tests today! I was running at Med-Ohio with the Megan. Usually I had a low fps in this track( 25-44max)! With 15 IA and 1-car detail- High 2-circuite..-high 3-opponents- low 4-textures- high 5-Shadows-low-fast and every thing else turned OFF, hdr-ON and AA-4, Synic-off.... Then I turned the multiview OFF and I gained about 30fps, so with No multiview now I have 55-75fps And I really like the view without using the multiview option, because I always use a low FOV(25-29) and I don't understand why people doesn't like ti run without multiview! Then I turned off the mirrors o and ohhh..my godnesss....my fps has flown from 55-75 to 80-105fps and even more, so I gained about 25-30fps with mirrors turned off! Then I tried to step up all my graphics option and put every thing on Max and turned on Road/environment reflection, AA-6, shadow-medium, opponents car-medium, sun occulsion-ON.... and now I have 60-70fps! So, multiview and mirrors are the killers of fps in rf2! I repeat, without mirrors I gained about 25-30fps and that is 80-90% of my previous FPS average!
It will be interesting to see when we eventually get the first big graphics optimization whether this mirror FPS-killer issue is addressed. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for serious graphics optimization...ISI seems to like to take so long to develop that the hardware has caught up with the problem by the time the title is ready for prime time. I would also not hold my breath that if we do see a significant grahics code overhaul that mirrors will suddenly be low overhead.
GTCLUB try to use multiview and window mode on!! should help!! to me its undrivible with multiview off... too much distortion...
