I'm new to rF and am currently playing rF2. The number of parameters you can change on the car seems daunting to me. I'm not sure where to start or what each change will do. I was wondering if there is a guide anywhere on the internet that will help people in my situation set up their cars quickly and efficiently. Any ideas? Thanks.

http://www3.sympatico.ca/cbarnett/SetupMatrix.html Those should help.[/QUOTE] Yeah this one is the best of all of them IMO you really need to read this and make 1 adjustment at a time to feel the changes and then once you get accustomed on how the setup process works then you will be making multiple changes to your setup and you can literally do 3 -4 laps and have a great base setup for a "stint"!
If you want to understand or learn a bit about the theory how and why it works like that, this is a great source: http://www.racelinecentral.com/RacingSetupGuide.html
Hey guys, here is the last version of the setup tool from race to play (V3.02) that you cant download on their site anymore.I ts an actual program you open that asks you questions and you choose answers and really helps with setups. I just downloaded it, seems really cool and usefull. http://www.unitedracersleague.com/staff/hhc/r2psetupdevtool.rar
Unfortunately I haven`t played with it yet as been pretty busy today and things on over the weekend but when I do I`ll post up what I think. Have you tried it yet?
I know the question wasn't aimed at me, but I've been using it religiously for a while now. It's a must have tool.
Cool... good to know someone`s familiar with it budd... Prepare yourself for silly questions from me lol
I always tune shocks with regards to forward and back motion and that always screws things up when it comes to left and right tuning freakin shocks man lol
Geez i hope that link i posted isnt copyright infringement seeing that its not available on the race2play site anymore, LOLOL
Well, i downloaded, but since I work in different PCs, it would take them a lot of hard work to find LOLOL
Tuning dampers in the racing world is considered the black art. There always has to be compromise if you wish to get a decent setup and what works for one guy may not work for you. If you adjust for corner exit, corner entry or apex may suffer some. if you tune for entry, apex and exit may suffer. You just have to keep working the dampers till you get close to what you were looking for. Just remember, dampers is the fine tuning of the suspension, all other things should be as near perfect as you can get them before you mess with the dampers.
Ya dampers are def a compromise that's for sure, I'm always sort of tuning the dampers springs and arbs in conjunction with eachother which might be the wrong way to do it as you say they should be used more as fine tuning, but I find sometimes a damper change will allow me to go softer or harder on a spring than I originally thought I could, that's prob just a consequence of my bad setup methods.
