Ah OK! I was looking at the metal parts...that are pretty nice in the rF2 shot.

Of course I agree with you. Both tire sections have to be more reflective with blurred cmaps. We already talked about this (the anisotropic look)...and your idea for the blurred cubemap is great.

I hope ISI will implement your proposal into rF2...

    EDIT:

Of course the tread section of the tire could needs a "dynamic" reflection curve due the tire wear....

We need to rack up all the good ones you all made in this thread and post it in another correct subcategory. Can't really belive the artist dev team reads that much in this screenshot thread!

To much good information in here to be lost between all the shots!

    Glad you like it. :p

I have a couple of books from the sister "Sports Car Racing in Camera" series (1960s & 70s), there is some wonderful stuff in those.

Is that a wet track, or is that the mirage (or is it post)?

That's the mirage effect. Had to get that shot when I saw it, I think it's looking pretty good.

Yeah, that's looking awesome! It could probably stand to be blurred/distorted a little bit (more), but I'll take it as-is!

Looks great but it honestly to me (and i believe others aswell) looks to much like its a wet reflection.

Every single road mirage I've seen in my life has looked like a puddle until I've gotten too close to them. They should look almost identical to wet reflections frankly.

I dunno it just looks different to me, the heat haze in the real life pics look like heat haze, the one in rf2 in that pic atleast looks just like a stright reflection from a wet road.

On a side note, how often do you see heat haze like that when watching a race or in person? I was at mosport once as it was 41 degrees celcius (112 F) and didnt notice heat haze like in those pics.

Depends on a huge amount of different factors. Straight up temperature doesn't necessarily mean much, because I've seen them on the roads in Finland even in 20 degrees Celcius weather. Road surface shape and how high/low your perspective is is also a huge factor. Usually you need a really low angle to see them, meaning that either the road has to curve up/down just the right way, your head has to be very low down, or you have to be a long way away to see them.

And on the water subject, the mirage reflections I've seen always look like rippling water on the road. Heat hazes are a different thing, and shouldn't ever be confused with mirages.

    I've seen it at 70f... :)

You've just been shown pictures showing what looks very similar. It exists. It's that simple. Really.
