This effect on my system looks horrible and even lasts while the AI cars are going down the straights and through turns. It looks like it is moving at 5fps and makes the backs of the cars look blurry. I would love to see if my system ran rF2 smoother with this disabled. I can't find a setting for it yet. Is there a way to disable this graphics effect? Thanks
I too noticed that this effect seems unnatural at the moment, backside of car is blurry when standing (okay with F1 I guess, maybe Megane as well) and also when driving around at 160 kph (not okay with megane for sure). The effect should go away with high speeds in my opinion, at least in less powerful cars, though I have never noticed it with F1 car @ 250kph as well.
Thanks for letting us know. I'll quit looking now LOL. It seens that this takes a lot of recources to create this effect. Do you think this would improve performance much if this was able to be turned off?
It doesn't have a big impact on performance, no. I think an option to turn it off was planned at one stage. Not sure if that's still the case. I'll write it down .
Heat haze (wich is good idea for immersive feeling) really needs to be optimised for lot better realistic 'eye candy' ... - (little) Less visible while in grids - (LOT) less visible when cars are moving - Why no track surface heat haze when full sun ? ( not yet active ? in development ? )
The effect sounded nice and looked cool in some vids but I agree - it gives an appearance that the game is running at very low FPS. Didn't have the FPS meter on at the time but I'm pretty sure my frame rates weren't as low as it appears to look with the heat haze. Please add a way to disable or make it look smoother.
an error ive noticed with the heat haze is in the car mirrors, the cars behind heat haze is a black ball over the drivers head area, looks pathetic
Nice picture of Tambay in 1982. I'm in the crowd somewhere behind the car in that photo. Back on topic. I think heat haze adds very little to the gaming experience. If it were an option I'd turn it off even if it only gave mean increase of 0.5 fps. I'd much prefer to see changes made to deforming trackside objects like wire fences at Spa for instance than heat haze. Heat haze is only a visual 'nice to have' which doesn't effect how a race may unfold or how I approach driving a circuit.
Lucky dog I'm jealous now. Heathaze is build in now, so why disable it... it looks okay I guess. It should become a higher resolution and more frames. Then it is great. Also it is not that overdone like in pcars.
It's probably important to see the big picture here. It isn't about one effect, it's about a combination of effects, and you have one. There's still work to do on the camera systems, etc, so although I agree there should be an option to turn it off, it may also be a little early to judge as-is.
Also developed by totally different people, so one thing has no effect on the development of the other things you mentioned.
