Torrents fluctuate in speed far more than http files on a good server.

Torrent would fit our needs pretty well... lol But we wouldn't begrudge anyone offering a http mirror either. I think it's a state of mind shift we need though. If we were to release via torrent, it puts a 'step' in the process which makes it different to a standard release in the minds of those downloading. :)

Damn I'm good, and I'm guessing with Race2Play they will have a direct download link which is what they mean when they say 'one of the first to play'?? hmmmmmm ;)

Either way is fine with me really, Id prefer HTTP. in a torrent with no seeds and a lot of peers ill get like 20kbps download. and off an http server (For example when historix 1.9 was released) anything from 32kbps to 1.3mbps.

Perhaps if they released groups of files seperately( I have no idea what the structure will be like ), But maybe zips broken up into parts, This could possibly help with the loads on downloaders, As people may decide to download different files at different times. Say everyone is downloading "Part1" I could download "Part4" first.

Something like Multiupload.com *may* be an option, but then you have some of your customers seeing ads you may not want them exposed to :p

I guess League's FTP or HTTP could help in the process. Ill offer my 1MByte/sec server for free LOL.

I've read that someone was talking about a few hundreds beta testers for the coming beta ??!! I bet there will be thousands of them a months after release !

I think that is just a marketing gimmick at R2P. I doubt they will get the open beta any sooner. I could be wrong though.

We have no plans to provide them with anything earlier. Their wording (in the email I got, at least) was that you would be amongst the first to access, etc.

I guess an "applying for beta" system is not possible (wanted?) then. That's a pity, I think it would be the best solution to "cool things down" and also "slowing" the release...

People is already "freaking out", as this thread witnesses :D

It could be a way of slowly sharing the beta among fans. It wouldn't be a "in or out" selection but rather a "time based" one. You apply first? You have a chance of being selected first if ISI finds you "interesting and a serious guy".
