I frequently can't join the daily races over the server mod install issue. I thought this daily race was all free content, etc, so I don't understand why I hit this issue so much still. I have verified the game file integrity with Steam several times.
Try some of the tips in this post here:- http://www.simracers4life.com/forum/index.php?threads/did-you-knows-about-rf2.830/#post-29749
I uninstalled all the damaged mods. I *think* this is another example of something that just failed to load, but I don't know how to view the mod name when you are in the UI and trace it back to this modmgr thing. Looks like both the car and track are installed? I don't know man. I could understand banging my head against custom content, but I don't know what to make of this. Looks like there should be some detailed message after the hyphen in "Damaged mod - ", but it looks blank to me.
That does look weird. It does look a bit like you might have a 3rd party update file, maybe a car skin pack? There is a bug with rfactor2 where if you have installed a 3rd party update file to a track or car it stops you from entering a server. Here is an example that looks like your error. https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/brianza-historic-edition-1000km.73878/#post-1131134 In my ...\rFactor 2\Installed\Vehicles\BMW_M2_CS_2020 I have 2 folders: 1.46 1.47 In my ...\rFactor 2\Installed\Locations\Zandvoort_2020 I have 1 folder 2.62 If you have more folders than the above, delete them. If the 3rd party file is from the Workshop you will need to unsubscribe it as it will install again.
@Digital1955 can you select All Cars and Tracks in "offline mode" and pick the BMW M2 CS and Zandvoort. Then load this up OK?
Strange, I only find that I have Zandvoort as a subscription in one place in the workshop. I deleted this directory and it repopulated with all these versions. Code: Directory of E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Installed\Locations\Zandvoort_2020 11/23/2023 12:14 PM <DIR> . 11/23/2023 12:14 PM <DIR> .. 06/08/2020 08:47 PM <DIR> 2.27 03/25/2023 05:09 PM <DIR> 2.62 11/23/2023 12:14 PM <DIR> 2.63
Yeah, the sub on steam is 2.62, so if it has repopulated, then my guess is that one or more of the many mods you have has Zandvoort 2.27 and 2.63 linked... use mod manager to check out all your mods to see which ones are the culprits and uninstall the mods then uninstall the offending versions of Zandy. As an aside it's probably not a bad idea to clean out all mods via mod manager once in a while to keep things organised.
Good advice from Goanna to get rid of all the server mods, they not needed. You have said you have deleted the track folder but they have all come back again, this tells me they are Workshop items. The hard part here is which item on the workshop has installed v2.63. We have a clue here, The date stamp of the folder of v2.63 is 23rd Nov 2023. What did you Sub on this date? If you open your Workshop folder, ...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\365960 sort them in Date order, see what workshop number matches 23rd Nov 2023. Find that number on the workshop and Un-sub it. To get to that number on the workshop https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3088949297 <<<< change number to the number you found. What I do know, leagues like to spam the Workshop with all in one Car and Track packs content of championship events they are about to run with modified versions. Maybe you have Subbed to one without knowing what it was. This is only a guess as to how you have a version of a track higher than the official one. Good luck.
There are no folder with that timestamp. Furthermore under the workshop folder, this is the only zandvoort I see: Code: Shack-Desk:/mnt/e/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/workshop$ find . -name "*and*" ./content/365960/1107038453/Zandvoort_2020_v2.62.rfcmp
Ok, I went this route and blew away as much as I could with modmgr, I didn't see the other version repopulate, so now I have to wait for a Zandvoort race and see. Thanks all. That aside I hope and assume s397 might work on something to add some type of uuid to the tracks, if this was indeed a track lookup issue, such that tracks and cars are targeted by uuid rather than name, or a combination of the two for readability.
Checked my PC which shows a Zandvoort_2020_v2.62.rfcmp file in the steamapps/workshop/content/365960/1107038453 folder And in steamapps/common/rFactor2/Installed/Locations/Zandvoort_2020/2.62 folder I have a number of mas files and a Zandvoort_2020.mft file
For the car I have a .../Installed/Vehicles/BMW_M2_CS_2020]/1.47 folder with a BMW...mft file and a car-upgrade.mas file ( as well as the 1.46 folder)
I was able to join Zandvoort this evening, so I think my issue is resolved. Thanks for the help. I guess this issues is probably more likely for somebody with an installation they have had for a long time and if they have possibly manually installed content. Its been so long, I can't recall, but I am guessing those extra versions weren't from the workshop at all. It was very hard to find public servers and have the content needed, so I am jazzed with this new public races updates. Glad rf2 is getting a new chance at life with these updates and gaining so much attention on social media. I'd love to work on the backend server code for S397 -Scott
