What 3D Max version is now best to use with modding?

    Hi everyone,

    At the moment, I use 3D Max Design 2012. It is 8 years old now....

    Having seen the new release and the documentation, is it necessary to upgrade to the 2017 version?

    Thanks in advance for any input :D

    You can't legally upgrade to 2017. 2018 is the oldest available version - which is why we released the 2021 plugins.

    There is now an indie version available which is much cheaper.

    That looks interesting. $320 AUD per year for the Indie. I can get a 2017 version for $480 AUD with a life time license......I will have to think what will work best for me.
