What would you pay for a great mod?

About 12 years ago people were saying they would never pay for a subscription to a website. Along came a website that featured the information they needed, and the videos they wanted (no, not XXX) and sure enough they paid up. More then a few rFactor people were among them including slimjim...

    Trucks...

rFactor does a lot of cool things but scaling up or down from the typical race car may yield some unexpected results. Rigs of Rods has been used to build Mining Truck & Excavator simulators with some limited success. Immersion Technologies in Oz also has a pretty good package. Training...

    Release Date - Date 2011?

Not that I'm whining about the protracted release date, I just wonder how the timeline will impact sales.... The sims market is about to go through yet another generation of releases including C.A.R.S. and others that will almost certainly dilute rF2 sales. The last 2 market generation...

What would you pay for a great mod?

Thats typical of what all the modders have relayed to me when I was inquiring last year. Lots of people claim they donate and maybe they do, but they certainly don't donate to the major league modders. Maybe they think buying a G27 is a donation.

What would you pay for a great mod?

Not many people step up to donate to modders. With all the great mods out for RF1 it won't be long before there are many converted to RF2. There are at least a few modders who think they can cash in on RF2 mods. Good luck with that. There are a few services pertaining to rFactor that...

    Illegal mods

I find the fact that those who cry out "illegal mod" limit their thinking to the community. One can put certain protections on graphics for example; not that all countries or local governments accept those protection mechanisms. Two of the real cars I owned have been modelled; no one asked...

    rFactor 2 important Discussion..

$13 a year is plenty cheap. Look at it this way - How many hours a year will you spend racing online? What's your time worth per hour? Will the features in rF2 enhance the time you spend online by $13? As far as modding goes, its been great stuff, and more will keep coming. You still...

    rFactor.net updated

Nice looking update. Gives it that crisp "macromedia" look.

Will we be getting tools early?

There may be some similarities however many of the mods aren't available from rFactorcentral, and only mods with exceptional physics will be allowed. Its not intended to compete with rFactorcentral as there are features coming that no one else has and would appear that many people want.

Will we be getting tools early?

I get the impression that not all the gizmoz & gadgets that will require new variables have been identified yet, and probably won't be until just before the first release of rF2. If thats the case, then its not likely there will be an advanced release of a developer kit. Moreover there are...

Is anything being done with rfactor2 to stop ram cheats?

That is in effect what I am doing. Coupled with their setup there are parameters that can valid performance within a high degree of certainty. So you set the deviation tolerance a little higher to reach 100% certainty and it becomes a very reliable screen. This solution may not be practical...

Is anything being done with rfactor2 to stop ram cheats?

I doubt there will ever be an effective anticheat method done with software alone. If you really want to eliminate cheating it will take a little old-fashioned effort on behalf of the league admins. That effort can be minimized with razor thin lines of judgment when the rules and methods are...

Why rFactor needs a well designed driver class/rating system

As Tripp demonstrated there is a rudimentary rank system already included in the dedicated server. However like the thread on cheating its certainly not foolproof. Managing skill levels and cheating will take much more then a few lines of code can manage. Both cheating and driver ranking is...

    Racecast Revival?

Thats quite alright, in fact I never bothered to look at the API. The reason for the question was just what marrs mentioned, but before I put 1000 hours of my time into it, was wondering if there were any racecast revival plans. It doesn't look like ISI folks will put any time into it if they...

    Scripting/programming cars?

That explains it better. I haven't figured out how to change the parameters that are "frozen" while on track such as diff settings. I have a suspicion thats a can of worms better left unopened. In part because it could evolve into something used for a cheat, and in part because there are a...
