Yeah, I didn't think of the Cobra, but the result is basically the same: 77FPS. EDIT: I'm an idiot, while switching back and forth for this "tests" I left the wrong PP setting, the above performance is with PP set to NONE, with it set to ULTRA I actually get 65.7 FPS
I agree that the content is inconsistent and it shouldn't be. However, as I mentioned in another thread, I don't think it's unreasonable that ultra settings doesn't work on current hardware, as an example Crysis 1 when it came out. Especially as people are now pushing the resolution up, few years ago it would have been unheard of to run a game in 4K, but now people are taking it for granted with the top end GPU's. 4K is 4 times more pixels to render than 1080p, so it can't be expected to run maxed at that res. Very few games are playable maxed out at native 4K with current gen hardware. Also if we look at a year ago before the GTX 1000 series was released, GTX 1080 Ti has almost doubled GTX 980 Ti performance, so there is quick development still going on, not so much with CPU's, but with GPU's yes. A couple of years ago 2-3 GB VRAM was standard, now we have 11 GB cards. Nvidia is releasing Volta later this year, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it having double the performance of current gen.
Playback is another ball game with post effect, and at Ultra to top it off, even for GTX1080Ti. Above is only a 2560x1440 single monitor, only 1 GTX1080TI, Post Effect at MEDIUM. Not 4K like yours at PE-ULTRA. Setting all highest/full including shadows. Anti aliasing Level 4, to match DX9. GTR500 2013. Race mode, 20 AI, cloudy. Silverstone Even 2-way SLI GTX1080Ti won't help at this stage of RF2 DX11, which is not SLI ready......yet. Don't feel bad Jedi, you got only 1 of GTX1080Ti to feel not too happy about, I got 2 ...LOL. Ari got 3 ... 1.5x more upset than I am..... I am sure. Lets hope S397 improve the DX11 Post Effect GPU efficiency and allow SLI capability.
I don't think that giving room for future hardware advances is bad at all. GT5 had a photography mode with a quality that was not sustainable in game. S397 might have better explained this. In any case it seems reasonable to split this PP effects into categories in order to take full advantage of the work done in PP which at the moment only a few can afford due to high requirements increase between modes.
24, all visible EDIT: Just tested with 32, got 81 FPS EDIT 2: disregard this, I was probably using PP set to NONE
Untill the tyre smoke! All well and good at standing start but once the smoke starts even the greatest hardware shows weakness.
Wow 3 1080 Ti's, why? I don't feel bad, quite the contrary, i love my Ti, just thought ultra didn't look much different to medium but with a huge hit and was surprised is all. Anyway while playing in cockpit, fps isn't at all a problem even with max @4k with ultra PP, it's just replays but have settled to medium PP so i can watch replays without dropping from 60 vsync. But i do think having more options than just a blanket medium or high or whatever would be a better choice, have ultra but with options to lower DOF or bloom or glare would be great.
Crysis was the best looking game for a very long time. rFactor2 is looking like 2010 and creates a GPU and CPU load, higher than much better looking games and DX11 does not make it better than DX9. All what happened is, that some overhauled content creates now much higher GPU load than bevor under DX9, A big problem is the CPU load using Multiview for a triple screen. There is massive room for improvement so it could be possible the keep constant 60fps with maxed out settings with actual hardware. Looking at Assetto Corsa, the postprocessing effects donĀ“t generate such high GPU loads and even with lots of cars in front of you the framerate is stable
Yeah i dont have an issue with AC maxed but im not so sure it looks better than updated rF2 content? Definitely doesn't feel as good.
I couldn't test that with the Cobra since the AI doesn't spin the wheels on the start, but the F2 does, and there the FPS go from 129 before the lights go out to 114 during the worst of the smoke. I wouldn't call that a weakness. EDIT: above result was with lower PP settings, actual result with ultra is 94FPS before race start and 81FPS at the worst of the smoke. Seriously, I'm starting to think that the people who have issues with this card at 1440p or even 1200p resolutions have other problems, maybe you are CPU bound? Mine works perfectly fine at 1440p with everything maxed out, not stuttering or any weirdness. I imagine its a different story at 4K, but at least at 1440p performance is fine. It is not even that far off from other games (I get average 150FPS on BF4 on ultra, with dips into the 120s when there is a lot going on screen). Obviously there is still room for optimization, and the game doesn't look as good as other games, but at least at 1440p, a 1080ti can handle this game just fine. EDIT: I was using the wrong PP setting, I think it was set to NONE but I'm not sure. I still get very decent performance with it at ultra so I will leave this post as I think the main point still stands.
Lower resolutions , 1920x1080 looks fine on a monitor If your using x3 monitors go below this ( per monitor ) I use to run 900x3997 when I use a 3 screen setup For Vr reduce settings I can't use most 3rd party tracks still as most are terribly optimised and don't allow "low" track detail (they don't exclude details) which is my track setting in options
what CPU do you have? I have an i7 4770k. A bit old now but the purple bar never goes above half way.
