I'm struggling to get chrome effect in DX11. Using the same settings as DX9 but not the same effects. Anyone got it working and care to share there settings?
In that screen shot I have a full black alpha. In DX9 I used a dark to mid grey and I have tried white. The texture itself is black but I have tried different shades to white as well.
You need fresnel reflect settings that allows full reflection... Min, Intensity at 1.0/1.5 or so Aaand then you need a white alpha channel, which should determine the amount of reflection - 255 = maximum reflection. EDIT: and power 1.0 as well
No idea if this is the right way to do it but these are the settings I am currently using for Stock Car Resurrection. It allows for chrome to a flat dull paint depending on the color of the alpha channel. You can find paint templates I made for an example of the alpha channels here. It may also help to add some ambient occlusion shadows to the texture like in my templates
Thanks toebee, My problem was the shader I was using cube specular map t1, where I had no control. After changing to the car shader I now have control. Starting to get closer. I have a few different settings in the screenshot below. I like the exhaust and door handle and trim. Rim Bumpers exhaust Door handle and trim

Nibiru did you manage to sort this out as i`m trying to paint a skin with chrome & can`t work it out either
Are you using the new car material system? You can also try ibl standard shader which uses a metalic/roughness map.
