Hello, today I am going to wish something that most of the modern simulators have, and it is the Self View in the mirrors. iRacing or Automobilista, you can look the mirrors and see your rear part of the car in it, and thats very important because makes it more real for normal guys and also more immersive for Virtual Reality. I think it shouldn't be difficult to import this feature.
Even when using look back to actually look out the rear window seeing the rear seat and parcel shelf and rear wing .
The hooks are there, but I don't believe all cars accommodate the capability. See player.JSON for this line: "Self In Rearview":"", "Self In Rearview#":"Empty for nothing, * for everything, otherwise list comma-delimited instances you want _removed_",
Plus for this feature.. If rF2 is to go forward now that DX 11 has arrived, it would be nice to see those additions, plus the added dirt on cars during a race (I believe this can be achieved using the dirt shader). Virtual Mirrors could be left alone for those who use them, but in-car mirrors for sure.
In the cars I use I set them so I can see the edges of the rear wings and top inside quarter of the tyres,can't you do this with every car,if not then ask the modder to apply this
I know there are settings in player.json but even if those options are active is it still up to the modder to make them visible?
i have no clue,I use shift and the seat adjust keys to adjust my mirrors,some mirrors go all the way back and some don't,I thought it could be tweaked by the modder. So your saying anyone can tweak them in the json,cool
Played a bit with the settings reported here, results are odd...sometimes you see your car from the bump nose, sometimes you see only wheels, etc...no way to have it works as it should, S397 needs to improve this soon or later for immersion and because a real "sim" needs to be realistic and well polished...
I know you can turn on and off what you want in your mirrors in the player.json. But still don't know if the car modder needs to do something to make it work properly.
I'd love to see roll cage / rear wing in the tin tops but sadly even with ISI / S397 content I don't see this.
I think the modder needs to make sure that the cockpit.ini has the mirror in the correct position. Seems to work fine on my mod.
That's usually only in devmode. You can get the car parts showing by hitting ctrl+u or s or whatever the suspension shower thing is. I don't think it works in-game, but I would love to be proven wrong.
I edited the the player.json. My mod already had the mirror set in the right spot. I checked a few other mods and it works except the mirror position is normally set too far forward or backwards which will give strange results.
I have tried this,workes great,but when press the brake some parts stay behind and the go to the place when release the break,only the mirrors parts,tested whit my S13 and some oficial cars,your mod is the only that works perfect so far Is something in the gen diferent bro?
I believe this is a new bug that was recently reported This is probably because my GEN file is unfinished. I still need to make my LOD's so my cockpit is currently listed in the main instance slot not the actual cockpit instance. This seems to work fine for me and my mod at the moment but I wouldn't recommend it and it is something I plan to change once I make the LOD's EXAMPLE: Instance=SLOT<ID> { Moveable=True MeshLODPosByInstance=True MeshFile=<123456>COCKPIT.gmt CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(0.0) LODOut=(1000.0) ShadowCaster=(True, Solid) Reflect=True Actor=VEHICLE Instance=COCKPIT { Moveable=True } }
