Experimentation makes things move forward. Then it's quite alright to break a few eggs now and again.
"I lost an awful lot of experimentation." Please "Say It Ain't So, Joe". Hate that when that happens.
How is progress with this track, mate? Are you still working on it? With the Palatov mod having a hillclimb car, this track will be of great value to a lot of people, when the mod eventually gets released. BTW: I have a version called "GH_0.52e". Is that the latest version? Because when I hit the link in the 1st post I get a version called "HC_0.52c"..?
Hi Hexagramme I got a new computer back in December and sort of crapped out on fixing the LOD and taking care of some of the missing shadows. I'm honestly afraid of breaking it if I touch it again! We'll just say that it's been "temporarily" abandoned. It's been on my mind, though. Enough that I reinstalled simed and got it up and running. Thanks for the heads up on the conflicting version numbers. "E" is the most recent, ifrc. I'll see what's happening with the links. EDIT: Man, it's been so long since I did this that I can't figure out what's going on with the version numbers. I'll have to check it out when I get home from work. I believe that even though the version says "C", it installs as "E". Bush league
Great to hear from you, and good to hear that the track is still on your mind. That's all I was hoping for. You let me know if you need any help with testing!
Update to version .57 Fixed most of the LOD issues. Updated the textures a bit. Which introduced a couple of odd clipping issues in a few places.
Oh you're AMAZING! Thank you so much, this track has been on my mind for some time, just didn't get around to asking. So cool you're still working on it. Thanks again.
Unfortunately I'm getting some very serious performance issues with the new updated version. It's particularly bad in the first part of track where I get severe fps drop, sometimes as much as 50 percent lost fps. I wonder what could be the cause of this? I've tried in two different vehicles, AC and D4, both times the same drop in performance.
I've also noticed a couple of framerate dips in the lower section and I think I know why this happens. I changed none of the geometry and didn't add any additional "detail" items. But I did add two gigantic invisible walls as shadow casters, one on either side of the mountains, to compensate for the mountains not casting shadows. So, I'm guessing that the new shadows are the cause of the frame dip?
I'm glad to hear that the performance drop isn't a complete mystery. What can be done to improve this?
