See my Nords thread for possible fix. http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.p...81-WIP-24-Hour?p=296892&viewfull=1#post296892 I made invisible low poly walls inside the hills to block the sun. In scn file I added line item render=false to these items. Hope that helps. No idea about shadow under bridge. DJC
Nice workaround, DJC In 3DSE went through the section of walls that weren't casting shadows and set them to cast shadows and it seems to be working. At least in the preview mode. If I can avoid having to make/place objects in 3DSE it would be a good thing. As I'm sure you know, trying to do that in 3DSE is akin to trying to clean the entire European highway system with a worn out toothbrush
When this place claims you... it really claims you! A slight lock-up of the fronts near the top proved pretty fatal...
Tested it. Good so far, trees are there and no stripes on people! Extreme flickering of external mirros though! Doesn´t anybody found finally the reason for that behavior?? It´s present at most converted tracks...
Hahaha what a great camera angle! I kept waiting for your car to come up the road, not drop down from above
Sweet! Re; the flickering -- let's see if anything changes when I go through and set all of the objects to reflect properly. Maybe that's the issue?
That was based on the YouTube video! Now that I have access to my rig, I downloaded and installed, but do not see the track in my listing. I only have the two 0.51 originals. Do they have to be uninstalled? Is your new one supposed to replace the older uphill track? I tried spinner and list views...???
Well, this is the first time I have ever had an issue installing or finding a track. The old one (0.51) has three files: TN_TD.mas TN_TH.mas TransfagarasanNORTH_MAIN.mas The new one (0.52), when I install it either alone or with the old one still in place has only one file: TN_TD.mas The main largest file is missing, which would explain why it doesn't show-up in the tracks lists. Of course, I am presuming that if one uninstalls the old one, they are giving up the downhill section, since the new version only contains uphill. Could you check and see in Mod Manager what files you have under contents? The download is obviously large enough that it should contain a 275 MB or so main .mas file. Very odd!
Marc, there should also be a "TransfagarasanNorth_MAIN.mas" file. Clocks in at ~278mb Is anyone else having this problem? EDIT: I just noticed that if you're in "Spinner View", the course doesn't show up. Try List View. Weeeeird
I know that file should be there/needs to be there! But why not? There is no error message during the installation? I will try uninstalling and then manually removing anything I can find in the folders. See if that makes a difference!? EDIT: No, makes no difference I have no idea why or how my install routine could be different than others? Could you also confirm whether the new uphill can co-exist with the previous version that has up and down? Or do we have to give up the down for now to get the improved up?
I'm successfuly running the new version, plus 2 older versions. The caveat being that the new version only shows up in List Mode. I'm going to take a shot at restructuring/renaming the folders when I repackage everything after updating the LOD settings. Perhaps having all of those same name files is causing rF2 to have a small freak out?
OK, I started over. Uninstalled and deleted everything. Re-downloaded your new version and ignored the old one. The new download was not the same size as my previous one so clearly that was the source of the problem. It is now working properly in list view! The shadows are a big improvement. This track is so worth the effort to fix it up to rF2 standards. It's like a magical drive. There will be a ton of work to do, though, with reflections, the flickering and so many textures needing to be higher res...and all the mesh work to make those new textures look their best. Hopefully you have the patience to proceed and can even get some help along the way. Thanks for your help with my stupid installation issue, but thanks 1000 times for working on this great road.
I can probably add it back in, though your updates make the old versions not very interesting any more
A little project update: I completely destroyed it But, man, did it look a lot better before it died. Probably going to start over.
More accurately, I lost an awful lot of experimentation. And I learned a lot while doing it, so in the end I think the results will be better. I'm baffled by many of the textures, tho. Is using 5 maps for a single surface common practice? That just seems like overkill
