Hi folks, You may have seen an announcement that IMS are changing the roadcourse. We are going to continue to model Indianapolis Motor Speedway as it was in 2013, and will release a future version for the 2014 roadcourse layout. So you effectively get an extra track. We probably won't be able to survey the new roadcourse until April/May 2014, so you should not expect the new layout in time for the first race at the new layout. Thanks, Tim

Great news. Historic versions and layouts are always welcome, even if we have the latest one(s), too.
Do you have a sort of timeframe Tim, for the track and cars? I mean, just out of curiosity (not to nail you down on it ) should we think 1 year or 1 week, in what sort of order you think?
Good to know! I like the actual road course layout, because I have done a ton of laps with the GT academy 5-6 years ago!
Tim, are there any images showing the new layout? I can't find anything. Just curious as to what they have changed.
They're announcing on Tuesday. Quite considerable changes. Worthwhile enough for it to effectively be a new track to you. Nobody can say more 'til Tuesday.
I hope the track has period era layouts. For instance, in the 1980's, The track had HUGE area down low, not curbing, but a full lane, to get down on. And in 2012, it has curbing on the inside corner.
Indycar is going to race the new road course in early May next year, then of course the 500 will be at the end of the month. Some other series will use the road course as well (IIRC TUSC will use it as well as some motorcycle series and maybe some others too). IMS has already begun to do some re-paving and there have been drivers doing some testing too.
Missed your question. No. The track is in production, the ribbon is done, texturing is not as they're finishing the unannounced track about to be released.
I know, my head exploded. Went to it this year! http://www.flickr.com/photos/twheatley/sets/72157635128192725/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/twheatley/sets/72157635127706403/
