All I wanted from anyone was to complete the the first quote ..............................

What is the next level ?

How would you describe it compared to the above ?

Can you describe it any better the ISI . ?

( should not be tooooo hard )

...................is that right ! omg I never knew ! p
.....but wait ? ................... what better hardware ? loool

More importantly ................ WHAT BLOODY HARDWARE for each step.

    lol :)

Where would yours and my specs come on the list and what would you call them ?

Maybe it would help newbies get a better idea of " what is what"

Ain't rocket science you must have a opinion.

Personally my specs I would call nothing more then ........ " Reasonable 1920x1080........... "

    These are Assetto Corsa recommendations:

    OS: Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1
Processor: AMD Six-Core CPU, Intel Quad-Core CPU
    Memory: 6 GB RAM
Graphics: DirectX 11 (AMD Radeon HD 7870, Nvidia GeForce GTX 660)
    Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
    Sound Card: Integrated

I would say these are reasonable specs for running rF2 on one screen, 1920x1080. AC AI is slightly more CPU intensive, so perhaps AMD Quad-Core is enough for rF2.

You are after all asking what the minimum it'd take to run rf2..aren't you?
Everything else in the list could work...except for the things I've mentioned.
It won't run a full field of cars or run it at massive fps...but it'd run.

That seems good for a recommended system IMO. I used to have a nicely OC'ed Q6600 and it did run good enoguh and medium or high settings. I do wonder how rF2 runs right at the lowest settings though. No HDR, no AA, low everything, 6 cars visible, etc.

I now have an Intel 4670K with a 7850 OC'ed. 8GB of RAM. Runs good for me at near max settings. I only run AI fields of 8-10 though, usually. I'd have to drop it if I chucked in 20 or so.

    +1 more like it

Is ISI worrying about putting such horribly expensive hardware as a GTX660 ( roll eyes ) in print ?

So total newbies have a clear grasp of whats needed for medium and max settings/ quality/ etc etc at a few popular resolutions and other given situations ?

Does not have to be exact but I bet you guys could do the baselines for ISI to use, no doubts on that score.

    ;)

    First things first

W8 needs adding to page, like I said puzzling to me why not considering how long it has been out.

Face about lol ..........actually stands to reason if Vista works then both those " minimum specs" quoted should not even include W7, let alone W8 OR ( may work on W10 beta ) ......

    ........... hehehe that's sarcasm.

I would not run Vista if you paid me ISI !@!

    loool ;)

It will be awesome when you can get your hands on a GTX 770, Steve :). With the 970 and 980 out, maybe you could be a few months away? Or even a 2gb 760 would be quite serviceable for you AND cheap.

Cheers GUI but I really need the ram 1st. Single channel isn't the best idea I've had. Got a Christmas coming up and my birthday so here's hoping. 2 kids in England at University kinda takes priority over graphics eye candy. That's why smoothness was important 1st.

It`s not different here in germany ;) But i got an unexpected redemption from the taxman :) and reinvested the money (partially because of the 3 children  ) into a new system. Check my PC Specification. With this PC i can run rF2 e.g. with all settings max, 29 AI, ISI Spa classics, Camaro GT3 with 160-180 FPS. Single Screen, 1920x1080, no stutter etc.

All this talk of cpu bottlenecks yet the advice people have been giving is "K" series intel chips are a waste of money!
If I hadnt spent the extra "not very much" on my 2500k I would be stuck at 3.3ghz luckily I didn't penny pinch on the chip and run 4.5ghz very easily.
It makes sense to me that a "sim" will require more cpu grunt than eye candy games.

Sorry no ................rF2 requires way more GPU then CPU.

Slower CPU and faster GPU will win out.

    4GHZ is FAST ENOUGH !!!

    Prove otherwise >>>>>>

What now ......... show me some modest improvement in rF2 for spending 100's of dollars more ( cpu and cooling )

    Show me the money. ?

I had a 2500K up to 5GHz rock solid stable

    3.7GHz > 4.5GHz modest framerate gain

4.0GHz > 4.5GHz you can barely tell the difference.

    4.5GHz > 5GHz nothing

Turn your 2500K down to 4Ghz I bet you can't tell the difference.

How about turning it back down to 3.3 and adding 20 cars, still confident?

I can run any number of cars I need (30) with first generation i5-750 from 2009 on stock clocks. Never issues on CPU side, I think it's pretty much evidence that CPU is lesser issue than GPU with rF2. I would need three or four generations newer GPU to bottleneck my CPU.

3.3Ghz is really 3.7Ghz Turbo be truthful lol :) ........which is only 300MHz less then 4GHz or 800MHz less @4.5Ghz

If you can tell the difference in 300MHz I will give you a medal.

Sure 3DMark will or some other gamnes but not rF2 overclocking is not great bang for buck.

Intels don't ovcerclock as good anymore if you ask me.

Sandybridges were the ducks arse mine did 5.1Ghz on air......and at 1.4V !

Haswells get hotter and use exponentially more power , ramps up volts higher you overclock faster.

    edit:

    Proviso

Naturally is better higher core speed the more graphics grunt and resolution you need to push.

But .......I thought that was pretty obvious.

But its really not much more bucks for your extra bangs, k series all the way for extended product life. As it happens the 2nd gen chips have caught me out not supporting pci3.0 but other than that the extra say £20 for a k has to be worth it.

if you want to play the latest sims or games you are going to have to keep up with the latest technology as well. if you want the best results as so many seem to be eye candy everything.

    That is simple analogy.

For best overclocking and stability you also want top PSU, better ram timings, better processor cooling, decent Phase power motherboard, maybe even case cooling............. which can all add a fair bit of cost to a build for 500-800MHz clockspeed.

Yes you can buy a cheaper psu, motherboard and ram and cooler and overclock the snot out of it.

I would not advise it but.
