Since I finished Road America I have been thinking about either to update this Mosport or not. Before you ask earlier this year before I started to work on RA I didn't have time and after that I wanted to make RA and not to update Mosport because of the reasons I talk about below. I decided that it would be a waste of time because there are so many problems with the track. The track (road) itself is: bad, inaccurate and also has a bunch of bumps/fluctuations which shouldn't be there not to mention the terrain: it's ugly and the polygons are a mess, the transition objects/texture is garbage and the trackside objects: most of them are from rF1 BTB xpacks except the buildings I made. With the experience I gathered during the creation of RA2016 and with much better datas for Mosport I started to work on Mosport 2.0. You can follow my progress on my yt channel. Sounds stupid but after I finished (I mean released 0.901) Mosport I never raced on my track. I didn't like it because it's too inaccurate compared to the iR version.
Hi Shiet, would you please tell us how your YT channel is called? Maybe a dumb question but i can't seem to find it
Mosport naked... The track layout and the track elevation changes are 98% done. Really a rollercoaster.
I'm wondering if a certain Mercedes might be wonderfully flighty over the hump. Keep up the good work, I tried to help test drive a naked track I knew VERY WELL years ago. It was almost impossible to drive. The lack of landmarks can be very disconcerting to an old fart like me. Ya done well!
What a pleasant surprise, shiet! Mosport was my home track when I was young and I negotiated that Champion bridge back in the 60's, while employed by said spark plug company. I've enjoyed driving your version in almost every car. The more powerful the more hair raising. Especially appreciate the pre and post versions and hope they'll be included in the upcoming version. Still feels like an awesome drive to me, despite your misgivings. Now I'm really excited to see what you'll pull off for v2.0
davehenrie: I made it and I've already also driven about 100 laps on the track so I have to know it. pkelly: it's not that bad if you haven't driven the real version or the iRacing version before. But compared to those it's bad. T1 is too steep and too long, T2 has a bunch of bumps, between T2 and T3 bumps, T3 is almost OK, between T3 and T4 it's slightly downhill while in reality it's flat->slight uphill, T4 is OK, between T4 and T5 the steep downhill is very bad, T5A and T5B don't have camber, this was my biggest concern back then when I made the track, I didn't know much about modding so it seemed to me OK but that double corner in reality should be one corner with a dip (I mean when you are driving). The long straight is OK except for the fluctuations. T8 and T9 are OKish, between T9 and T10 there should be a very slight dip, T10 is horrible, it rises too much. That's all. Btw don't you visit the track nowadays?
Thanks shiet. Mosport is a great track to watch racing I'm there multiple times every year. Moss corner is my favorite spot what a view... I have iRacing too but I still really enjoy your version in rF2
Here are my picture set I did not really moves from Mos corner thought... Hope that help https://flickr.com/photos/7290326@N06/sets/72157645760114152
I'll upload a few photos of various locations around the track. Once the upload is done I'll PM you the link... may take a couple of hrs.... (slow connection )
Sent you a PM... Hope it helps Not sure you can create text from them as they are all low angle shots.
Just looked at the vid The track layout seems really off Including the inclines - declines It bears some similarities but really is not Mosport
