Will the 2012 plugins work with Max 2016?

2016 is what I have, and it's a nice legal copy. But the '17 plugins won't work with it, and the 2012 plugins no longer are in the plugin folder you get from the Steam install, so I can't test those.

So anybody know if it's worth tracking them down or should I just throw in the towel?
