Why must we learn (or worse never learn) so much by accident?

I just watched GamerMuscle's recent video of DTM Experience multiplayer. Gearbox damage was cool, but what's with the spun-out cars ghosting away?!? That takes away several components of real racing: paying attention to flaggers, anticipating opponent mistakes, & avoiding the unexpected.

So here's a group of online racers who will have no skills in those areas and those skills are particularly useful when so many people can't make multiple laps without turning themselves around, collecting other cars, etc.
