why is it that even the slightest touch with AI cars I am totally uncontrollable while the AI cars hardly flinched ? is there some setting I need to make?
well most of the cars. BUT in particular, my most experience is HONDA NSX in NOLA circuit ( if that has any effect )
I've had this occasionally before, as if rF2's collision system isn't realistic (I don't think it is). But I don't know under what circumstances (car, track, etcetera). But it's up to S397 to investigate if they wish, not for us to spend time trying to reproduce.
From my own reading into to this, there used to be a setting, something like 'ai torque stability' ( I forget the actual name) that you used to be able to edit; this controlled how the AI reacted when hit etc. I daresay it was more complicated than that. At some point (last year I think) this was hard-coded to 1.0; which so far as I'm concerned equates to 'stuck on rails', do not expect much from the AI at the moment.
Found it, the setting was: "AITorqueStab=(1.0, 1.0, 1.0) // Torque adjustment to keep AI stable", but this was hardbacked to 1.0 back in 2018 I think; there's a Dev Post about it somewhere. And yes, it is frustrating to be punted off by the AI; at least if they came off as well, in addition to any other AI that was caught up, you could get back on track and still be in a race for the placing. As it stands, you get smeshed, the AI continues past and it's race over.
2016. https://www.studio-397.com/2016/05/updating-hdv-and-tbc-files/ It's a multiplier, and 1.0 should be the correct value. Excessive AI 'toughness' shouldn't be fixed in this way. Check out this reiza thread, and Renato's post: https://forum.reizastudios.com/threads/howto-reduce-excessive-ai-stability-sp-only.2078/
https://forum.reizastudios.com/threads/howto-reduce-excessive-ai-stability-sp-only.2078/ " I'm pleased to offer a workaround, which is simply to inject a modified AiTorqueStab setting into each vehicle's HDV via its upgrades.ini file. " the link says EACH VEHICLE files !!! all the Ai in the race needs to be edited or ALL the Ai in the game. -i am feeling faint-
The link says "into each vehicle's HDV via its upgrades.ini file". The posted code has to be entered into the cars upgrade.ini file (if it has one) only.
You should read that thread, and this thread, again. Renato says in that thread it's not a good solution, even there. In rF2 this value is hardcoded. Overriding it via upgrades will have zero effect. It's also not a good solution, even if it did work.
Good find man. Aye, I'd be the first to admit that hacking a setting (even if it existed) wouldn't be the best option; the problem is that, currently, it would have been the only option. Ideally the people who know the code will find the solution, until then "...do not expect much from the AI at the moment."
